Gotta love journalistic phrasing : "If we had known this in advance, then we would have refused to have security," he said. Now, this does not say that he requested security, but rather, would have called the city and said "We don't want it" -- HOWEVER -- it lends itself to the implication that he requested the security due to the threats. Which is the case? Can't state emphatically from the info given. If the governmental bean counters would be consistent, then every city with a "gay pride parade", etc. should bill the parties involved for security (don't hold your breath), Memphis should bill for "Beale Street Blast", etc. Quote

Members amblivion Posted September 19, 2010 Members Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) While I do not agree with the pastor, I dont' think the law enforcement should bill him. It is their duty to protect and serve, and this man's life had been threatened. Don't get me started on what I think about law enforcement and corruptness. Moderators OLD fashioned preacher Posted September 19, 2010 Moderators Posted September 19, 2010 While I do not agree with the pastor, I think if the police should bill him at all; it should only be for the personal protection they gave him (if even that). They OBviously were protecting the whole city which is their jOB and should be at no extra cost to the pastor. Don't get me started on what I think about law enforcement and corruptness. Only if the pastor requested/ contracted for said PP. My dad was a major w/ Wackenhut (and LEO reserve unit lieutenant). They couldn't turn down a paying customer seeking a legitimate service(since they ran ads for their services), but customers they didn't want were given a high bid with the dropped info that an off-duty cop could be had from said officer's dept for (@ that time) $11/hr. Oops! I was retracting my statement through edit while you were posting your reply! I thought about it, and that is why I was retracting it. If the police wanted to be used as PP, they should have contracted for it; I agree. Quote
