Members JerryNumbers Posted April 10, 2010 Members Posted April 10, 2010 I couldn't agree more, which is why I'm having difficulty in understanding why someone would make a state wide proclamation concerning something they know has bad memories for a large portion of their citizens. Like you said, "Why rub salt into old wounds?" My Humble Opinion Only. To me its about politics, its all about getting something for nothing, its also about affairs of this world, cares of this life, cares of this world. Those seeking something for nothing will use anything they can in order to get what they want. Those with political ambitions will also use anything they can to gain their ambitions. 2Ti 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. Lu 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. Lu 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. Mr 4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. Matt 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. 2Ti 4:10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. 1Jo 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Yes, cares of this life, love of this present world, cares of this world, affairs of this life, will keep many from giving their whole heart, all of their faith, in God and His Son. Quote

Like you said, "Why rub salt into old wounds?" I think that history should be remembered, even if it means bad memories. We lost states rights and the right of secession when the American people lost the civil war. It's something we all deserve to be reminded of. States mean nothing now. It's funny, but growing up in public school here in a Northern state, I was never taught the true significance of the Civil War. I always thought the good guys won and we freed the slaves from the redneck southerners. I was never taught what we lost as a result, nor how significant that loss was to the People and their states. Members John81 Posted April 10, 2010 Members Posted April 10, 2010 Yes, of course you are right. The majority always does what is right and Biblical and treat their brother as themselves. Very Christian, absolutely. I stand corrected, please accept my apologies. We don't live in a Christian nation, even the last two presidents were quick to point that out. Why should the minority dictate to the majority? Since American began such backward thinking God and the Bible have been kicked out of schools, homosexuals have been accorded special rights and are being given government sanction, history has been even more drastically rewritten into a lie, etc. Now, given the fact that most in the South, black and white alike, are still professing Christians, if we were to do the "Christian thing" we would welcome the pursuit of truth in history and no one would be attempting to use our history and heritage as a political weapon. Like I stated previously, outside of academia (and politics, which the politicians all come from PC schools of distorted learning), these things are not that big of a matter. I've also noticed over the years that it's more often those from northern states who seem to think they know just how things are in the South and how to make them better yet their remedies tend to lead to more prOBlems. In the actual South, and especially outside the largest cities, blacks and whites tend to get along well and unless there is outside agitation there is typically no prOBlems with anything Confederate. It's a lost fact but there are actually a good many blacks proud of their Southern roots who also take a measure of pride in things Confederate. All of that said, if a race of people can have an entire month dedicted to their history (which most often consists of teaching a false history and a racist history) why should they complain if some folks want to honour a tiny portion of their history during April? This PC nonsense is so pathetic. In some areas they have gone so far as to decry OktOBerfest, and similar celebrations, as being racist. One small city not far from here decided the local OktOBerfest was "too white" and need "diversity" because it was "racist" to have a celebration based upon something so "European". Their solution? Turn it into a "Latin" festival. Now this event is almost exclusively filled with Mexicans blaring very loud and OBscene music. Hardly a white, black or any other race in sight. Of course, that's no prOBlem and the city council is unconcerned that thousands of folks who loved the OktOBerfest are now without a celebration time that generations have enjoyed and they call the Latin festival a source of diversity.
