A prominent conservative senator said Thursday that he now supports gay marriage. Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, told reporters from the Columbus Dispatch and other Ohio newspapers that his change of heart on the hot-button issue came two years after his son, Will, told him and his wife that he is gay. "It allowed me to think of this issue from a new perspective, and that's of a Dad who loves his son a lot and wants him to have the same opportunities that his brother and sister would have—to have a relationship like Jane and I have had for over 26 years," Portman said. In an interview with CNN, Portman said his son, then a freshman at Yale University, told him "that he was …

Scripture says that for those born again, God is our Father. Scripture says our Heavenly Father loves us and cares for us more and better than our earthly fathers. Most earthly fathers would readily help ease their childrens pain or problems if they were sick and if they could they would make sure their children were fully healed from whatever health issue they may have. Knowing these things, how do we answer those who ask why God doesn't heal their children or themselves when they are born again in Christ and God is their Father?

Does your church have a "motto"? The church I used to go to, before they disbanded, had this: "The church with a heart in the heart of the city" My current church's motto is: Exalt the Savior Exhort the saint Evangelize the world.

Does anyone have any recommendations for books for a young lady who didn't grow up in church but wants to learn more about God and the Bible? Yes, I know she can read the Bible - and she does. But she has a hard time understanding the teachings at times and I would like to get her some books that she can read. I don't want children's books, but easier reading for adults. Any suggestions?

The "Duck Commander" from the very popular TV show "Duck Dynasty" is coming out with a book. Sort of an auto biography. I don't know how many of you watch this. I've only seen 2 shows that someone recorded for me. For those of you who have seen it or at least know about it, then this book might interest you. http://bcove.me/ew8sk704 Dr. Roberson

NEW YORK (AP) — Sarah Palin has a new book coming, this time about Christmas. The former Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor has a deal with HarperCollins for "A Happy Holiday IS a Merry Christmas," scheduled for November. HarperCollins announced Monday that the book will criticize the "over-commercialism" and "homogenization" of Christmas and call for a renewed emphasis on the religious importance. "Amidst the fragility of this politically correct era, it is imperative that we stand up for our beliefs before the element of faith in a glorious and traditional holiday like Christmas is marginalized and ignored," Palin said in a statement released t…

I am so excited! We are starting a Creation Club in our town. I am not going to be able to be actively involved in it as I would like, because it starts at the same time our nursing home meeting ends. I will be able to make it to the last part of most of the meetings, though. I am doing the publicity for it, so at least I'm involved in that way. It all began as a quest for a birthday party for my friend's two daughters. What my friend wanted to do was have a party where creation and the gospel could be presented and just invite a whole host of people (especially kids from the girls' classes at school). So, we tweaked it a bit. Instead of a party, it's a Snakes Al…

Harlem Shake? Has anyone ever heard of this before? City Church Harlem Shake Spin Now with 'light sabers" in an Arkansas church! Wiki is the only place I could find any text on this. As rediculous as this is, I was not surprised. The only shaking at a local church I attend will be shaking hands.

Tonight was the first time in many weeks I've been well enough to attend church. I barely made it to the end and we left early because of me and did not fellowship afterwards. It was good to be there and the preaching was tops, I've been missing my pastors and church family. Praise God though that the grand-parents of one of my daughter's classmate and friend were scripturally baptized after coming forward last week. We'd prayed for their salvation often over the years and now they're gloriously saved by God's grace! Amen!

The World It’s a tough world out there. It will either harden you, or drive you closer to the Lord, depending on which way you run! Yes, it is important that you run in the right direction; we have enough of those “hard cases“; we have enough lawlessness and ungodliness to suit us, and more than enough. When trials come, (and they come to all alike), we have no hope--no help but in Jesus. It behooves us to fall upon his grace and trust him to carry us through the trials. This is not easy for the natural man to do, but it is extremely important that he do it; you might say “it is a matter of life and death!” the urgency of the matter, and the futility of relyi…

This is what Jesus looks like now! Think of him like this when you pray. Revelation 1:10 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. 12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; 13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment d…

Most of us are taught from childhood to respect and obey the law. On the whole, Americans are law-abiding people. This is only fitting for a nation that was built on the principles of law. Remember, at our core, this is supposed to be a “nation of laws, not men.” This is one reason that our Founding Fathers bequeathed us a republic and not a democracy. Unfortunately, it has been over one hundred years since America’s teachers (both secular and sacred) have taught the principles of Natural Law. This has created a vast ignorance that has blinded people (especially Christian people it seems) from being able to properly understand, evaluate, and judge the law. Our Lord pl…

Today the wife & I made the trip to the VA hospital at Shreveport, it wears me out. Amazing, I remember a time when I drove cross country back in the 70's & 80's, I would leave out here in Arkansas & in about 26 to 38 hours I would be on the west coast, generally taking a nap before getting unloaded at about 7:00 AM in the morning. Now a little bitty trip like this wears me out. Any way I should be getting a hearing aids with Tinnitus masker's come mid March, that when it should come in. Don't really know what to expect except that it will take a lot getting use to & adjusting to. I guess i will find out if I'm one that can adjust to using them, or do …

The Crucifixion of Jesus Psalm 22:1-31 1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? 2 O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. 3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. 4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. 5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. 6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. 7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 8 He trusted…
