Mailvox: is God on our side? JH wonders: "I have read your coloumn faithfully for years, and have come to admire your level-headed and logical approach to the problems you present. I have a question. Most social conservatives declare that life begins at conception, thus concluding that all abortions are murder. If you take this stand then you must conclude that America has the blood of 50 million innocent lives on her hands. What right do we have then to drop bombs on " ragheads and goat herders ' and the like if this is so, and how can we possibly think that God will bless our troops in foreign wars when we can't possibly be on HIS side?" It is so. And America has …

Want to buy my hub a surprise smartphone for Christmas.... was leaning towards an iPhone 4s but guy at Verizon trying to talk me into Android, says the 4G speeds are better. Seems like iPhone is slightly more user friendly but Android (I am specifically looking at Samsung) has faster speeds and more modern, with Google os.... What do you think?

I read this article on The Baptist Pillar & wanted to share it with you. It really touches on the fact that those that have Jesus as Savior, its a fact, 'The Best is Yet to Come.' We have so much to look forward to yet so many of us live our life as if this is as good as it ever will be while storing up many earthly treasure.

While studying Job this thrilled my soul to read today, and I think it will for you too. What a wonderful Lord we have. So I'm working on a study about the Millennial Kingdom, and what it meant to people all throughout the Old Testament. To Adam and Eve, the promise in Gen. 3:15 meant that maybe they'd get back to the garden. To Enoch, well, he was the first man to preach about the Second Coming about 2,500 years before the first coming in Jude. I can't believe I made the mistake of overlooking Job! To him the promise of the Kingdom meant seeing his Redeemer and having a new body. Job 19:25-26, "For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter …

October 27, 2011 WILL SAME-SEX MARRIAGE LEAD TO LEGALIZED POLYGAMY? [Excerpts] Joe Darger and his three wives, Alina, Vicki and Valeri, are not seeking the right to marry, like same-sex couples in states throughout the country. The Utah foursome simply wants their polygamous marriage to be decriminalized. Darger and his wives said they are "independent fundamentalist Mormons" and that polygamy is accepted practice in their faith. As such, said husband Joe, polygamy "goes back five generations" in his family lineage. Joe Darger is legally wed to Alina. By also taking Vicki and V…

What do most of you folks use these days? A PC, a Laptop, tablet, phone or??? I've grown up with computers and have always had them in the home since about age 7 or so. I just repaired/rebuilt my motherboard and am getting my computer, a PC back up and running again. For portability and as a backup we have an HP laptop with a 17" screen and what I consider essential, the keypad on the side! Both machines are 6 years old now and I have no plans to replace them, though my wife think she does! hehehe That being said, what kind of phones do you folks use? I have an old Moto Razr somewhere around the house, haven't seen it in months. There is a hands-free phone bu…

It's a girl! British royal succession rules to change PERTH, Australia (Reuters) - Centuries of British royal discrimination came to an end Friday after Commonwealth leaders agreed to drop rules that give sons precedence as heir to the throne and bar anyone in line for the crown from marrying a Roman Catholic. The 16 countries that have Queen Elizabeth as their monarch agreed to the changes put forward by British Prime Minister David Cameron, who had called the rules of succession outdated. "The idea that a younger son should become monarch instead of an elder daughter simply because he is a man, or that a future monarch can marry someone of any faith except a Catholic…

Fundamentalist Christians protest at Paris theater PARIS (AP) — The city of Paris is filing legal complaints against a group of fundamentalist Christians who have been protesting a play currently showing at the municipal theater, claiming it is blasphemous, the mayor said Friday. Riot police have been called in to chase off demonstrators bearing crosses loudly protesting in front of, and sometimes inside, the Theatre de la Ville since the Oct. 20 opening of the play. "Sur le Concept du Visage du fils de Dieu" ("On the Concept of the Son of God's Face"), by Italian Romeo Castellucci is a provocative story centering on a young man caring for his aged and incontinent fat…

THERE'S A MUSLIM IN THE WHITE HOUSE August 11, 2011 NewsWithViews.com By Coach Dave Daubenmire I think it is time to stop pulling our punches. Because we have been bull-whipped with political correctness, most people are afraid to state what is obvious. ” I will no longer be bullied by fear of ridicule into denying what is plainly obvious to anyone with the courage to look with un-biased eyes. I don’t care how much the media covers for him, or how much his communist cabal yells “racist” every time someone questions one of his policies, or how many years he spent hiding in Jeremiah Wright’s “church, Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim. I don’t care what names they …

What Is It We Wish to Conserve? By Patrick J. Buchanan Tuesday - October 25, 2011 A conservative's task in society is "to preserve a particular people, living in a particular place during a particular time." Jack Hunter, in a review of this writer's new book, "Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?" thus summarizes Russell Kirk's view of the duty of the conservative to his country. Kirk, the traditionalist, though not so famous as some of his contemporaries at National Review, is now emerging as perhaps the greatest of that first generation of post-World War II conservatives -- in the endurance of his thought. Richard Nixon believed that. Forty ye…

I see all the time where people toss books and teachers because they do not agree with everything they say. That’s fine to do, but in the end you could really miss out on learning something that God wants you to know. From Moses and Aaron to Samson and David, God’s pattern is using imperfect men to accomplish impossible tasks. If you wind up tossing every book (or preacher!) that happens to have something wrong in it, you’ll wind up with nothing but the Bible. That may be okay for a while, but that Bible tells you that we’re supposed to learn from teachers (Eph. 4:11, I Cor. 12:28, Acts 13:1). Other than God and the Bible, every book and teacher will have pro…

Religion claims its place in Occupy Wall Street BOSTON (AP) — Downtown Dewey Square is crammed with tents and tarps of Occupy Boston protesters, but organizers made sure from the start of this weeks-old encampment that there was room for the holy. No shoes are allowed in the "Sacred Space" tent here, but you can bring just about any faith or spiritual tradition. A day's schedule finds people balancing their chakras, a "compassion meditation" and a discussion of a biblical passage in Luke. Inside, a Buddha statue sits near a picture of Jesus, while a hand-lettered sign in the corner points toward Mecca. The tent is one way protesters here and in other cities have take…

Is it religious bigotry for a Christian to point out the truth about a false religion? Why should religion not be a concern when considering candidates? Since there is no "religious test" to be a candidate for office, or to hold office, does that mean individuals shouldn't consider religious aspects concerning candidates? If the candidates were a Muslim, a Moonie, a Branch Davidian, a Wiccan, a Satanist, and/or a fire and brimstone old time Christian Fundamentalist, would the media and wishy-washy folks still say religion didn't matter? Should it matter? Does ones choice of religion reflect upon their charactor, ability to reason, worldview, or other matters?

Army general flares: ‘where were the churches’ in fight against Don’t Ask repeal? <p class="author-detail-wrapper"> by Kathleen Gilbert Wed Oct 12, 2011 17:33 EST WASHINGTON, D.C., October 12, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - One of America’s most seasoned war generals expressed frustration at the silence of Christian churches as the U.S. military’s ban on open homosexuality fell to a repeal effort earlier this year. Lieutenant General Jerry Boykin described at the Values Voter Summit on Saturday the exasperation of pro-family leaders in Washington who found themselves abandoned by church leaders unwilling to make a stand for the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. Boy…

READER'S ADVICE: DROP 'THE CHRISTIAN ARGUMENT' ABOUT PUBLIC EDUCATION October 13, 2011 NewsWithViews.com By Lee Duigon A reader has challenged me to drop “the Christian argument” against the public schools and find a more broad-based line of reasoning that “will prevail” in the debate. Let me state her major points as clearly as I can. 1. “Those who oppose Christian ideas and views… control all of education.” 2. Most parents, including Christians, are convinced that receiving a public education is “the only way that their children can be successful.” 3. They represent “a huge segment of the population which prefers to keep religion and state totally separate.” 4.…
