I recently started reading a book by Alister McGrath called "In the Beginning. The Story of the Kings James Bible and how it changed a nation, a language, and a culture." So far I have found it to be extremely informative. Has anyone else heard of this book or its author?

1 Corinthians 4:4 "For I know nothing BY myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord." This verse is fiercely attacked by many "noted scholars" as being a blunder and a defect in our beloved King James Bible. Most modern versions, like the NKJV, NASB, NIV, RSV, ESV, have altered the translation to mean something else. Here is a site that lists several "defects" in the King James Bible. http://www.bible-researcher.com/kjvdefects.html Notice how these learned men exalt themselves and heap praise on one another, all the while "correcting" the Book of books with degrading insults. They suggest that "volumes, instead of a few pages, may …

Genesis 22:1 God did tempt Abraham -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Genesis 22:1 "And it came to pass after these things, that God DID TEMPT Abraham, and said unto him...Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest...and offer him there for a burnt offering..." Bible critics and wannabe scholars sometimes bring up this verse as an example of an alleged error or contradiction in the King James Bible. One such self- appointed authority recently criticized the KJB in this typical way. James 1:13: "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempte…

Hi saints. I wanted to post this because it is very well done. Quotes from the 'Scholars'? Tearing down Christianity, or tearing down the Bible is EXACTLY why this world puts out some of the modern bible versions. You should study the guys behind the modern versions. The modern versions are CHOCK FULL or first rank HERETICS. I'm not talking about a few guys who differ on baby sprinkling or something, I'm talking about them being thoroughly INFESTED with people who don't believe Jesus was God in the flesh, don't believe even the originals were God's word, don't believe the originals were historically accurate, don't believe Jesus performed miracles, don't believe the Genesis creation, don't believe Jesus should be worshipped, etc. …

The Voice of a Stranger The god of this world Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. Amos 8:11,12 As we get closer and closer to this famine of hearing the words of the LORD, we must realize that by Amos 8:11,12, there will come a time when the words of the LORD will not be available. If one were to look closely today at all the many Bible versions that are available on the market…

Bible Correctors Described by the AV 1611 The modern reviser and common church going correctors of the Word of God are located, identified, described, judged and condemned in the following passages, which were preserved in a text that they would not have thought to meddle with until AFTER it was declared canonical and fixed - the Old Testament in Hebrew! The People Who Correct the Word of God! 1. They are afraid of the results of street preaching Jer 36:10,16; John 11:47,48. 2. They resent the fact that the spoken word is for the common "man in the street" Jer 36:6,10; Acts 5:28,40. 3. They are worried about the political consequences of a message that…

...they said 'BONE', but they meant 'BLOOD', a common and easy mistake to make  !!! FLESH AND BONES OR FLESH AND BLOOD? Friday Church News Notes, January 2, 2004 (David W. Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061, fbns@wayoflife.org, www.wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) The New International Version is becoming popular even among fundamentalist churches, but it is one of the very worst of the modern versions. Not only is it based on a corrupt Greek text but it is a loose dynamic equivalency translation. The following is from Dr. D.A. Waite's excellent book Defending the King James Version: "[The NIV is so…

A Comparative Study of Job and the New KJV. The purpose of this comparative study of the different Bible versions is to show that not all versions say the same things but with slightly different words. If one naively assumes the NKJV has only updated the "archaic words", I suggest they carefully compare word for word the differences found between the Authorized King James Bible and the NKJV. There are literally hundreds of unnecessary word changes that affect and change the meaning found in the KJB. I will only mention a few of them in this ongoing study. Job 3:8 "Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up THEIR MOURNING." Here is a case w…

OK, one of the things I have been taught to do is to periodically go back to the underlying Hebrew or Greek for some scripture, to do a word study. For example, with the question around a Christian drinking alcohol, it is helpful to go back to the H or G, also to look at verb tense etc. A few questions. I saw here a term for the really good version of the Hebrew (began with an M...... :? ) which has been faithfully preserved by Jews. I feel quite comfortable and confident to return to that version for additional scriptural learning. The Greek - what "version?" I understand with the Greek there is some what looks like controversy, but maybe it's just terms and …

over at Will's (brandplucked) site... http://pub76.ezboard.com/fav1611godswor ... 1049.topic Check it out, Whad'ya think? Are the 'modern per-versions' from the mind of God to the mind of man? Are we KJV Only folks the antagonists in this issue? Do people who deny the Bible, and call Jesus a liar, spend an eternity in bliss? Are Westcott & Hort 'safe in the arms' of Jesus? Could I ask ANY more questions?

Holy Spirit Conviction is neccessary do you agree in order for a person to be saved? Why is it missing for the most part in "soulwinning plans "? Why are most "soulwinners " more into numbers and descions . They seem sincere they say they aren't forcing a descion but when in fact they are . Just because someone "prays the sinners prayer " doesn't always mean they are saved now why else would they use tons of verses on assurance ? I mad several of those descions in my life but it never changed anything in my life not till I realized my condtion and that prayers don't save you Jesus does and in fact the moment that happens you are saved the prayer is mostly aft…

The Old Latin Version and the King James Bible Readings There are at least 17 entire verses omitted from the New Testament in such modern versions as the NIV, RSV, ESV, and the NASB. The NIV omits all 17 of these verses, while the RSV, ESV omit even more, and the NASBs vary from one edition to the next, omitting all these verses in some editions and replacing some of them in others. All these seventeen whole verses are found in the ancient Old Latin Version which dates from around 157 A.D., and was in use through the 1500's. Here is a list of these verses which are found in the Authorized King James Holy Bible, and in the ancient Old Latin Version, but are omi…

Hi Everybody, AMEN, Loyaldefender. Now, add to the mix of those that blaspheme and deny the deity of Christ, those boys from way back, Westcott and Hort. They have by their own testimony denied the creation story, and the resurrection of Christ. If an individual denies that Christ arose, does that not indeed make them an antichrist, and a blasphemer. Without Christ's resurrection, He wouldn't be God, and then we have no salvation. Of such ilk cometh Westcott and Hort.

http://www.chick.com/ask/articles/virgin.asp © 2002 by David W. Daniels Question: Concerning the virgin birth of Jesus spoken of in Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:22-23, some have said that the KJV source actually says, "young woman". If this is so, how did the KJV writers translate it to be "a virgin"? Answer: The KJV translators translated "almah" as "virgin" because that's what it means in the text. Here's why: First of all, it would not be a "sign" if it said "a young woman will bring forth a child". It's no miracle for a woman to have a baby. Second, in Matthew 1:23, the Jewish writer Matthew tells us what the prophet said. Writing in Greek, he quoted t…

Genesis 24 consists of the event of the marriage of Isaac, from beginning to end. In Genesis 24:65, Rebekah, upon being informed that the man toward which her entourage was travelling was the man she had come to marry, is recorded as having covered herself with a vail (veil). At this point in the event, did Rebekah assume that that man knew what this woman in the entourage was doing there in his neighborhood? In other words, at this point, did Rebekah assume that Isaac assumed he was engaged to her? This is sort of a trick question.

Principles of Bible Preservation The following is by Jack Moorman: ONE: QUESTIONING PRESERVATION IS THE STARTING POINT OF APOSTASY. The questioning of the Bible's preservation is the starting point of all other kinds of apostasy. Satan in Genesis 3 did not begin his attack by questioning whether there was a God, or whether God created, or whether the doctrine of the Trinity is true. Apostasy did not begin with the question of whether God's word was inspired in the originals; apostasy began when Satan asked Eve, "Yea hath God said?" "Eve, are you certain that you presently have a full recollection of what God said?" When doubt was given a bridgehead at …
