  1. No, I was reacting to Morales/TGL's response to my post. You're not seeing that is what's really sad. ?
  2. Having had a lot of "public speaking" (I used to be involved in politics, music, and also am a minister) for many years, I definitely know how to change my voice for each character or situation. That has never been a problem for me. My friends and relatives who are involved in these industries have been after both my wife and I for years now to "get involved" and to finally earn what we're worth. We both have seen the struggles involved, the "casting calls" and the auditions for the voiceovers, and that's something we could bear. The podcasting would be something interesting for us as we have a lot of varied interests, and a lot of friends who we interact with on a consistant basis on theses subjects. For me, it would be a natural thing. Not so much so for my wife. But, she has the ability to learn quickly and adapt to many situations and conditions. Thanks for posting a link to help get some experience back under our belts. Paid or not it would be something we're interested in just for the opportunity to build a portfolio.
  3. My wife and I have been asked many times to consider doing audiobook narration or voiceover work. I used to do the tapes for peoples answering machines way back in the 1970s and 80s, but not many people use the old styled answering machines any longer. I used to make some good money to do this. It helped pay my way to church camp several times. We have a few friends and a couple of relatives who have done on or the other of these two, and other friends who have done podcasting as well. We're considering doing all three to help get my wife out of corporate abuse (they keep changing the hours of operation for her shift back and forth...from five eight hour days to four 10 hour days, and now, back again.) The constant changing of the hours and days back and forth has been hard for many where she works to handle, especially when the days off aren't ever allowed by the company and 'mandatory' overtime is the norm. Our friends who have started doing voiceover and audiobook narrating are making fairly decent incomes for their work. Yet, it IS a job, and auditions have to be given just as in any 'casting call' in acting. I was wanting to know if any here had done this kind of work in the past or even considered it? We knowt that it would free up a lot of our time for ministry and other things that we wish to do, and it would give us the ability to work from anywhere since we would need to set up a home studio for recording. This would also help in my music. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, BT
  4. This still doesn't tell us what you're looking for. What specifically are you trying to convey here, TGL?
  5. I've never had a problem with accepting the fact that there are three distinct persona's in the Godhead. Remember, our ways aren't God's ways, and our thoughts and understandings are not his. We have a finite mind limited in our understanding of God. Yet, we know that three different entities are mentioned. The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. It starts in Genesis 1. It's these are mentioned in unison in several place throughout Scripture. The Trinity is one of the hardest things in the Bible to explain and to get folks to understand at times. We were always having it explained this way...The Trinity is like an egg...there is the shell, the white, and the yoke...three distinctive, separate parts, but all three still a part of the egg.
  6. With them being so vague in nature, it wouldn't be hard. Bitcoin has been going up and down, just as the stock market does, every single day. IMHO, there's no cigar here! ?
  7. South African Christianity is highly suspect in many cases. A lot of it is mixed with the old African tribal practices of witchcraft, worldly practices, etc. There are many Christians in S. Africa, yes, but there are many that use the name and have little to do with Christ or Christianity. The first two paragraphs of this item from Wikipedia is accurate from what my friends from S. Africa have said. I didn't really read much further than that, because, as a practice I don't use Wiki as a main source of information. Yet, I know this part to be fairly accurate. The links are below. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_in_South_Africa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditional_African_religions
  8. Happy Veteran's Day to you, Napsterdad! My own biological father, brother, three nieces, two nephews, and a cousin or two have served as well. We're so proud of them and thankful for their service to our country and to the Lord. I love this day of honouring our veterans.
  9. There is no country at present that I believe to be better than the United States. It still has a great Christian base, and these Christians are still spreading the Word of God here and around the world.
  10. One can't stop people from voting for whoever they wish. And, no matter what party is running (as far as I'm concerned the Republicans and the Democrats are one party...two sides of the same dirty coin) there are those who support the causes you listed. One cannot legislate morality. It's never worked, and won't work until we are in the Kingdom of God. There God will have his will and way, and nobody will oppose it.
  11. My wife and I had to do a write in as well when it came to McCain. We couldn't stomach his two-faced way of doing things, and we definitely didn't want him in the White House trying to appease the Democrats. Write in was the only thing we could do, unless of course we voted for the Libertarian candidate on the ballot. I've been told I wasted my vote and helped put Obama in the White House, but I don't believe that. There are many Republicans in Congress, both the House and the Senate that already support the LGBTQ+ movement. Many of them also support the recreational use of marijuana. But, I don't believe that supporting these things will be a key to getting the Republicans back into the White House.
  12. I believe the elections of November 8, 2022 have proven that Mr. Trump is a liability to the Republican Party. I believe many others are finally seeing this for the first time. The inability of many of the Trump supporters to gain office helped to prove that Mr. Trump isn't helping anything. I believe Ron DeSantis or Nikki Haley would be a great POTUS! I'd vote for either one. I still would be hard pressed to vote for Mr. Trump again.
  13. Yet we find that people need to vote for the person who most closely represents the Biblical world view. Yet, we have to remember this as well, they may hold the correct Biblical world view and not have a lick of sense when it comes to representing us in the political arena. So, what do we do then? Sometime (and I know this isn't a popular position to hold) the one who doesn't hold the Biblical world view and is qualified to handle the position is the one who should be in office as long as it isn't in his power to help enforce things against what the Bible teaches. Example: There are two people running for the office of County comptroller, or State environmental officer. There is absolutely nothing to stop one from voting for a Democrat over a Republican for these positions.
  14. You can't blame the colleges. It's not their fault even if you do blame them. They can't force people to accept certain positions. TBH, TGL, you have some strange ideology. Each individual is responsible for their own lives and trying to have standards that are Biblical.
  15. Yes, LuAnne, I had totally forgotten to ask about your D-I-L and the baby! I'm so sorry and hope you'll forgive my lack of concentration. How are they doing? We're still praying here.
  16. Just because one graduates from a Bible college doesn't mean they'll hold conservative views. I know many that went to college with me back in the early 1980s that don't hold conservative views today, whether from a Southern related Bible college or not. That has little to do with whether they'll hold to conservative views or not.
  17. You do understand that Caesar (Roman Emperors) weren't elected officials, don't you?
  18. You state that they're "Christians" and then ask if they're "lost" for voting for a liberal governor. Of course they're not lost. Misled maybe, but not lost! Why ask such a question? Voting for a person who doesn't support what most Christians do doesn't negate ones salvation. It may show their lack of growth as a Christian...but Christians aren't perfect.
  19. Both the Thompson Chain Reference Study Bible and the HGKSB are great choices! I've got a 45 year old TCR Bible and I've put a lot of notes in it myself. The later publications of this Bible have been on my "wish list' for a long time.
  20. This is why most churches don't allow anyone to participate unless they sign a comprehensive waiver drawn up by a competent attorney. My wife and I used to be insurance agents who sold legal insurance and worked with attorney's to see that contracts for these kinds of things were sound. People are litigiuous these days, that's for sure. But, with the proper legal contract, it's hard to successfully sue someone and win.
  21. Oh, but they are, my friend. The only huge difference is that they are meeting in a localized church building instead of the homes. Yes, there were many disagreements between the apostles and those who worked with them. This is natural in families. And it's natural here as well. Whenever a place has two people or more, there are bound to be some levels of disagreement. It doesn't necessarily equate to bickering or fighting. It's a heathy thing if done correctly Let me ask, Morales, did I mention apostles? I don't see where I did. I mentioned "the believers." This isn't limited to apostles. Hope you're having a blessed day, brother.
  22. I take it to mean that the world will distort what we are. Makes clear and perfect sense to me.
  23. I don't necessarily agree with your point of view, and I've made this clear. It's sort of disengenuous for you to imply I do. I believe that, even though the terminology you want isn't specifically mentioned in the way you want, it is clearly implied. Implication is just as good as the "right words."
  24. If you read the Bible and study where the churches first met, it was in the homes of the believers. They would meet in the homes to study, preach, teach, break bread, to take the Lords Supper, and anything else that would benefit their members. Let's not be blind to what really went on. It was to uplift and undergird the lives of it's members in the Lord. There's nothing whatsoever that should stop this in secular ventures as well. And to be frank, many of these practices have been going on for many years. I am in my 60s, and the "karate" and other martial arts were in the churches at that time. So were carnivals, and trunk or treats/fall festivals. I think many are making "much-ado-about-nothing" where many of these things are involved. Trying to shame, overrun, or force anyone to accept someone else's convictions is abhorrant. Let the Holy Spirit be the one to convict. It isn't beneficial if it's our belief coming out of someone else's mouth and heart.
  25. Many businesses, and even some churches within various denominations are starting to use these pronouns as not to offend those with weak minds and seared consciences. Yet we know that our Lord and savior Jesus Christ has the power to break these chains and change these people's lives. Troubled times or not (remember, the Apostles lived during a "troubled" time under the rule of Rome) God is still on his throne.
