A bad cold came on last Thursday, coughing, sneezing, sore throat, & waking up in the night to make a hot drink & have more paracetamol & cough mix.

I did get to church Sunday morning, though staying indoors would have been more sensible. I did not attempt to sing, & just about managed to give the notices - including that I was scheduled to lead & preach in the afternoon service. My sermon & order of service were printed out, so I could ask someone else to lead & read if necessary.

Come 3:30 - I changed the opening hymn for a simple but profound chorus - He is Lord. [My wife had chosen "For all the saints ..." but she wasn't prepared to stand out & lead it.] I asked Ann & a volunteer to read the Scriptures (Acts 3) & for a time of open prayer.

I found I could lead the singing, I preached with full voice for over half hour without cough or sneeze, & had no prOBlem with the final hymn: Man of sorrows .... Hallelujah! What a Saviour!

Hallelujah indeed
