Does sensationalism and argument rule your conversation and your comments? Do worldly events take more of your thoughts than seeking to know more about the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit or, God's Word?

2 Corinthians 1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

Philippians 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

1 Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

1 Peter 3:16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

:thumb: Good post!

I know this applies to all aspects but one area I notice many have a problem with is when witnessing. Rather than give a simple, plain Gospel message, perhaps coupled with a bit of their testimony to God's work in their lives, many will veer off into various side arguments and stories.

Early on, I would allow myself to get distracted like this as well. Thankfully the Lord got through to me and when others attempt to steer the conversation away, I redirect back to the Gospel.

Some people will go into great detail about aspects of Creation, or trying to detail heaven, or get into wild speculations of the end times. They may even have some good points, but the the simplicity of the Gospel is lost.

All too often we can find ourselves caught up in worldly arguments, side issues, and even get into the flesh and feel we must "win" some discussion. All of this detracts from the Gospel and our Christian witness.

Yes John, and there appear to be plenty of side issues discussions Christians want to be involved in.

2 Timothy 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

John that is a very good point. I agree that so many times people miss the point totally because they get into side arguments. I know I have been guilty of this.

One apologetics book I read I really enjoyed because he wrote at the beginning of the book that he answered questions that people had about the Bible and whatever else only after the Gospel of Jesus was presented.

Thanks for those convicting verses you posted 1 Tim.
