I suppose, growing up my hero from television was James Arness of Gunsmoke, as well as a few of the other stars of western TV shows. I've got a picture of him somewhere in my mothers stuff that I sent in for when I was quite young.

Thankfully I got over that and come to realize he really did not set a good example on that TV show although he was the good guy and he always got the bad guy. But look at where he hung out all the time, the Longbranch, drinking beer with his friends and woman friend Kitty.

I really believe my big heroes were the men in church, the deacons, who were in church every time the doors opened and were not ashamed to talk about Jesus, or reading the Bible, or praying, or teaching a Sunday school class, or singing songs praising Jesus and our Father. I wish and pray that more children will find heroes within their church to look up to and want to be like them, not like products of Hollywood or sports.
