I really like how Google Chrome is set up so its my default browser...but I'm really having a time with the cookies. They are so stubborn! Lately when I update my website I have to like view it through Firefox to actually see the changes...and even when I clear up the Google cookies sometimes the changes still don't show up. I'm getting to where I don't know if I should be bugging Bro Matt about a problem on my website or not! haha.

I found it did it on other sites too...I had Cake Central keep coming up as under management or whatever and then I cleared my cookies and it loaded fine after that.

GRRR.

Well howcome it won't refresh properly?

It does do it properly, it follows caching rules. The problem is a lot of websites aren't set up to use caching correctly because Internet Explorer ignores the rules anyways and so people who only test their sites in IE didn't bother to set it up right.

You can always reload the page to see updates though, which is normal.

Well I know BroMatt does the site right, which is who did my cake site...but still refreshing usually does not get it to update correctly.

Oh well.

Pretty much, the way it works is when the browser requests a page, it sends a header that says how to cache (or not to cache) the page. Chrome and other browsers do exactly as they are told, while Internet Explorer isn't quite sure what caching is.

The way caching is set up on your pages depends on what server-side technology you are using and how it's set up. The default is to cache for some time (can't remember exactly how long), but you can override it with configuration, or by sending the header manually, which most people don't do. I only had one application where I manually set the header.

So even though BroMatt did your site right, he may have left the caching at default, which isn't a problem in most circumstances, but I think it's the reason it's doing what it is.

Edit: Then again, if reloading doesn't update, it could be something else.
