(Warning; I do not necessarily endorse everything about Paul Washer; I believe he may use the NKJV instead of the preserved KJV)

Paul Washer I'm not Ashamed of the True Gospel

"Another clip of a message delivered by the grace of God working through Paul Washer. This is another video that is sensitive to the one and only seeker, God."

Gal 1:6-10
6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
10For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

I'm so glad you brought him up! Although he does use MV's, we in this household have been so blessed and helped by his messages. There are a lot of them on sermonaudio.com as well as his website heartcrymissionary.com. I highly recommend them! He's an outside-the-box sorta preacher. As for calvinism...he says he's not a calvinist, but rather a Biblicist....but only because calvin baptized babies and a few other strange things like that.

Wow...that was so good. I think we need a complete restructuring of our churches, both Baptist and otherwise. Our churches are weak because of decisionism/easy-believism. We have no joy in our ritualized worship and fellowship and there is no real passion in the church and love for the brethren. We need a new focus.

I just sent these links to my cousin. lol
We were talking a few weeks ago about modern "salvation" and the way the church is truly supposed to be.
In case you didn't notice, I like these videos. :thumb

Can you explain what you mean by "we have no joy in our ritualized worship and fellowship"? I've been in churches that do things the typical Baptist "old-fashioned" way, but what makes the difference is that they have the right heart attitude and love the Bible and love good preaching and most importantly, they love fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

I don't think it's the methods churches are using that's wrong, it's the attitude. We've settled for "motivational speaking" methods in preaching rather than preaching the whole counsel of God. I hear so many IFB preachers give outlines on how to live a good, moral life that is "pleasing to God", but they don't give much Bible teaching. The fruit of these ministries are people that know how to live with high standards and strong morals, but they have very little Bible knowledge and know little about true Christian love.

*edit - I'm sorry if my post was off-topic... maybe a moderator could split it and start a new thread if they want... I wouldn't mind. :lol *

I simply believe that everything is far too formal. The church should be a gathering of believers together for fellowship and Biblical education, yet it's not like that at all. Everyone goes and sits in their assigned pews and stares at the preacher. I think Christians would be much more benefited by taking a passage or an issue in Scripture and discussing it in small groups and digging into the Scripture to find the answers. Of course, I think there should teaching time as well, but I don't think that it should necessarily be the focus of the service. Or perhaps a healthy balance of teaching and fellowship. I'm not sure, exactly. I just think that there should be more hands-on time.

Ok, that makes sense. That's what I think Sunday school and Wednesday night Bible study should be for.

The morning and evening services should have regular preaching/teaching... along with congregational singing and special music and everything that a typical church should have.

My favorite Sunday school classes are the kind where you split people up into different groups... like adults, teens, and younger classes (and in bigger church, sometimes each group needs to be divided even further), and then the teacher can discuss a Bible passage with people in the class, and they can all learn and talk about it together. Wednesday night Bible study would be awesome if it was done the same way, except that it's not split up into classes (unless you want to have a program for the kids while the adults have the regular Bible study).

I know of churches that run like this... but unfortunately a lot of IFB churches have settled for the idea that we need every service to be all preaching and almost no time for people to just discuss things.

Oh wow' date=' I'm watching his video "decisionism." It's awesome. He is right on! Thanks for sharing this Sean!! :amen:[/quote']
I'm delighted that it has been an encouragement to you. I'm listening to to the greatness of the gospel again right now.

I would presume after listening to The Greatness of The Gospel that Mr. Washer must have listened to Ten Sheckels and a Shirt before; anyone else think so?

Paul Washer's got some good stuff. I wish he'd stay away from the NASV and Calvinism, but anyhow...

What he has to say on the holiness of God is excellent.

Wow...

I'm going to have to listen to this a few times.

Rom 7:18
18For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
