"For God so loved the world..."  Past tense.  If we understand some of the Holiness of God, how can we say a Holy God loves this world now?

Of course "For God so loved the world..." is written in the past tense, because Christ was speaking of a past event, to wit the birth of Christ. So you are saying that God stopped loving the world once Christ was born? We think in terms of time, but God lives outside of time. I don't know about you, but I was saved 2000 years after the birth of Christ. Revelation 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Joe, not sure if you posted the wrong verse by accident. The next one says this:

Revelation 13:8
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

it’s interesting that this came up recently with some people I know - refuting the statement in one place that Jesus loved us. He corrected the Bible and said it is supposed to be loves. Yes, many times the Bible talks about His love as ongoing, present tense - but in the context of several passages, it is referring to having loved us in offering Himself for our sins. That was a one time act that affects the world (and especially those that believe) forever.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Revelation 1:5
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Yes, I did post the wrong verse by accident. Thank you. I'll edit the post. I tried to edit, but didn't have the option.
