If there really is an avoidance of anything in this so-called "BJ Network", then PCC isn't following their own rule.

ABeka uses Patch the Pirate - Ron Hamilton - who would very much be part of a "BJ Network" since he graduated from there and lives, ministers in Greenville.

Good point, Jess. I've heard (but this is JUST HEARSAY) that PCC also sells books that include quotations from other Bible versions than the KJV. If true, this would also seem to be a double standard. I can understand why PCC would sell books like this (I know BJU sells books by mainstream evangelicals with whom they disagree on some things), but then why would PCC publicly, vitriolically "stand against" churches and institutions who are not KJVO (IOW, people just like the ones they invite to sit on their bookstore shelves)?

Maybe PCC is "coming around!" I sure hope so. I think valuable Christian relationships have been damaged by this sort of divisiveness, and I would rejoice to see reconciliation and understanding among people who differ on these issues.

Your not going to like this board much then. It is mostly KJVO.

"made obeisance"
"evil concupiscience"
"superfluity of naughtiness"
"conversation"

So, changing words like this wouldn't help the average American read and understand the Bible? I can't imagine how this could be inappropriate? Have you ever read the Prologue to the Cantebury Tales in Middle English? Have you ever read Shakespeare? It is like reading another language. I can't figure why people are so opposed to allowing someone without a Bible degree (or several Bible study tools on their shelf) to be able to read the Bible with understanding. Why not allow the teenager to be able to read their Bible with understanding intead of having to continually stumble over an archaic language?

And I'm confident your youth will have a GREAT time and will be challenged from the Word of God! Who is speaking the week you are going?

This thread has fractured a couple of times now. Please, let's not turn this into another versions debate.

PreacherD, I know you are new here and I would like to let you know that we have a special special forum for discussing the KJV issue. viewforum.php?f=3

You are welcome to post your comments and thoughts on the version issue over there.

Annie, I'm not sure if you are aware of this or not, but if you feel this thread you started has answered your question(s), it is your prerogative to lock this thread if you so desire. Of course, you don't have to; it is just an option you have.

Hi Annie! I think I understand your post. If I am correct, "The Wilds" uses the KJVO, but does not discourage the use of other Bibles? I guess the KJV is the only Bible that I ever used. Here is a little history on my family. I was raised as a RCC, but found out later that my dad had the KJV 1611 AV Bible in my home growing up. My mom thinks (she can't remember) that she gave it to him as a gift. She does remember giving her dad a KJV 1611 AV Bible when she was a single woman, though. She told me that she bought it b/c it was on the "Best Seller" list for that year...I believe that is the story. This would have been in the 1950's.

Well, I do believe that "The Wilds" is compromising the truth...in their beliefs, then. How can they say one thing...and, mean another? "The camp's official position is that the KJV is not the only translation that would qualify as God's perserved word". What is their stance on the "Jesus is a Woman" Bible...I wonder? :puzzled: Where would the perversity end, then? That is what I am trying to say, anyway. I don't see the "Blood Scriptures" much less, the beauty in any other Bible, other than the KJV 1611 AV. :amen: Revelation 22:19...And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. KJV 1611 AV.

BTW, I don't blame "un-willfully ignorant" people...as the KJV 1611 AV Bible says, for this gross act in judgement...I blame Christians that should know better...if the truth was accurately taught to them.

This logic is SO flawed. Just because a camp or church doesn't believe there is only one translation that is accurate, it doesn't mean they believe that EVERY translation is okay to use. That would be like saying that since I believe there is more than one TV channel that is okay for me to watch that ALL channels are okay. Makes NO sense.

Sorry, Bakershalfdozen...I didn't see your post before I hit the "submit" button.

PreacherD,
we have looked at the facts and come to quite a different view than you have. You know this is a KJV board, so why did you come just to start arguing with us over something that I promise you we are not going to change our minds on? At best it is fruitless, at worst it is just sowing discord...

BTW like Bakshirehalfdozen said, if you persist in this, take it to the proper forum, no need to hijack this thread.

I count myself among the guilty for hijacking my own thread. :hide

This is a good point, Jess. I certainly didn't originally intend for this thread to go that direction...I guess it took a turn when the PCC issue came up. (Again, my fault, I think. :ooops ) I do think that one of The Wilds' strong points is that it keeps out of "fights" and discussions about the KJV issue, and focuses instead on ministry to anyone who goes there. Perhaps we should do the same.

Wow! I didn't know I had such power!!! :cool I thought only the mods could lock threads....I'll wave the magic wand soon if this thread doesn't get back on track. :thanks: to everyone for their input about The Wilds. It has really helped me to know what you all think about it. I think all of my questions have been answered except the one about whether or not it is possible for a ministry (specifically TW) to remain on neutral ground (not in position, but in ministry) when it comes to serving people who disagree on the text issue. I'll check, and if I don't see an answer, I'll lock this thread and move the question to the appropriate forum.
