there is a guy in our karate association that I feel has some serious emotional issues. he seems to crave attention and he will make up stories to get it. well, a few weeks ago he claimed to have been attacked by someone high on drugs and he had to defend himself and the guy ended up dying. well, this past weekend he claimed he had been stabbed several times in a fight, and the story was suspicious so the leadership checked into things and learned that the other story was a lie too. So, the grandmaster has decided to strip him of his black belt and kick him out of the association. This kid has had a rough childhood and poor home life. Our group IS his family and I fear what this might do to him. Definitely some kind of discipline needs to take place, but he needs to get counseling and needs a support system. So, my husband and his business partner (our karate instructor) are going to reach out to him after this takes place. Please be praying as we look into counseling options and then arrange an intervention for the young man. His name is Don. Hubby's name is Terry and his partner's name is Gary. We will have to be careful how we handle it because I'm sure the grandmaster will expect everyone in the association to not have anything to do with Don, but that's the wrong thing to do.  We hope the young man will be open to our friendship and the help we want to offer him.

I appreciate the prayers and thank you for the concern.  They will certainly be on their guard, and they are two men who can definitely take care of themselves, especially if up against this young man.  We do really think the story was to get attention and to make him look tough to other people, but we won't assume that was the only reason....

this situation has been progressing very slowly.  we learned last night that the grandmaster has finally written a letter of dismissal.  after it is sent out hubby and our friend will be reaching out to him.  we pray he will be open to what they have to say.
