Signs

I believe that God does give some signs, but I suppose it depends on how you interpret them

Some years ago when the then Archbishop of York said that he did not believe in the virgin birth and within a few days York mInster was struck by lightning some said it was a sign.  Was it?

In 1870 when the Pope was declared infallible, there was a terrific thunderstorm and at midday, it was so dark the artificial lights had to be used and the cardinal making the announcement could not he heard because of the noise of the thunder.  A sign?

In 1870, the Pope also lost his temporal possessions.  Till that time he had ruled much of Italy as absolute monarch. He had no property except the Vatican palace until Mussolini gave him the Vatican State in 1926.
