I have Oullette's book "Things that just aren't so" but have never read it. Is he IFB? Biblically sound?

He's definitely IFB, and he sounded off against Jack Schaap long before Jack Schaap's troubles came to a head. I've listened to several of his sermons, and he "seems" pretty sound to me...but then again, I haven't listened to a lot from him...nor have I read any of his books. I do know that once he cut ties with Jack Schaap/Hyles-Anderson College/First Baptist Hammond, he shifted his support to Paul Chappell/West Coast Baptist College/Lancaster Baptist Church.

I haven't read all of the articles on Boudreax's blog yet, but with just a cursory overview of what's there...well, I'll wait to read them all before I say more.

Okay...I was going to read all of Boudreax's blog articles, but I didn't have to.

I was willing to give Boudreax the benefit of the doubt...that as an IFB, he was pointing out prOBlems within the IFB movement. However, it's apparent that his blog is given to ax-grinding rather than to be a help. The "good" articles are full of Southern Baptists and Calvinists...or...Southern Baptist Calvinists. The anti-IFB articles are just that...anti-IFB, and he's also anti-KJV only.

While I agree that there are prOBlems in the IFB movement, I think the proper way to handle those prOBlems would be to spot the prOBlem and do what I could to correct it. Boudreax also says that he pastors an IFB church. I would hope that as the pastor, this isn't his only blog.

I've said it elsewhere here, and I'll say it again...when I saw and experienced (first-hand) the prOBlems of not only the IFB church we were attending...but some of the prOBlems in the IFB movement, I didn't abandon the truths that they were right about. I didn't go and join a more liberal church or turn my back on God (like many who leave the IFB do). No, the truth is still the truth. We simply went to another IFB church that was more balanced and still stood for the truths of God's word.

If the IFB movement is such a stigma, why not do what you can to "right the ship" instead of trying to make it sink?

My opinion is that Boudreax is nitpicking....I don't find much that I disagree with in Oullette's articles....

Fair enough, I dont want to come across that way. I'm new to blogging and my intention was to post the articles and provide commentary. I will keep what you said in mind.

For the record, I'll post 'good articles' wherever they come from. I don't believe IFB's have a monopoly on truth, and truthfully, there are not many 'good' IFB blogs out there. I am not anti-KJVonly. I am anti-KJV stupidity, and there is a lot of it...more than not. As for 'righting the ship', that is what I hope to accomplish. The IFB movement has been hijacked by stupidity and I hope to filter it out.

If that is your hope, you will have a hard time convincing IFBs by using articles that mock them and using articles from Calvinists.

You can use whatever articles you choose; it's your blog.

Here are a couple of well-written blog posts from somewhat well-known IFBs that deal with prOBlems in the IFB movement. I hope you'll take a moment to read them.

Boudreaux, I disagree with you. I know my IFB church has a monopoly of the truth of God in my town! The other churches have gays in leadership roles, rock out on stage to a dark auditorium of people, water down the Gospel until they've created a god of their mind that they'd like to have. I've attended many different church denominations in my life and have never had the Word of God so clear too me since joining that it is very easy to see error in other churches that continues them on a very slippery slope.

Maybe they should be call demoninations...
