Some Things A Jew Should Do Because He Is A Jew.

When a Jew becomes a Christian, he doesn't stop being a Jew.

It is his nation, his people.

As such, there are things that the Jewish people were told to do that they should continue to do.
There are of course, some things that are not necessary to continue once one is saved.

But consider this:
Exodus 12
11  And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.

12  For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. note

13  And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. note

14  And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

notice that this is a memorial, it is to be kept for ever.

This is to the Jews.

This is NOT the Lord's Supper.

Christians are not commanded to keep the Passover - although I think that there is some beautiful representation in it, and benefit in studying it.
But a Jew remains a Jew even after he is saved. And there are some things, such as this memorial, which are to be kept as a remembrance and a way of honouring the Lord.

And "there is no difference" is not relevant to this point. Read Romans 10:12 in its context.

Actually, your entire foundation, that a Jew is always a Jew because its his nation, is incorrect-a Jew is so named for Judah and Judaism, or Jewery-this is the religion, the followers of the law. Judah was the nation that kept the Temple, thus the name "Jew" came from that.

The nation is the Hebrews, or Israelites, also called JacOB in scripture THIS is the nationality, while Jew refers specifically to the religion.

Thus, when one becomes a Christian, they should cease being a Jew, save for those who remain so to reach the Jews.

However, you are correct that things like the Sabbath was given to the nation, as was the Passover and other things, so these ought to be OBserved, I suppose..

Same same......

Most are recognized today as "Jew" rather "Hebrew", but of course technically you are correct.

The point is that there some things such as this memorial, which are not and never have been considered a means of grace, which these people should continue to do - as a memorial.

I am a born again Christian, but I still remain an ethnic Jew/Hebrew (a physical descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and JacOB).  I didn't cease being a Jew, but Christ freed me from the bondage of the religion of Judaism, even though I was a non-practicing Jew....except on Passover and Rosh Hashanna....similar to a two day a year "Christian".   My grandparents were Orthodox Ashkenazi Jews from Russia. They immigrated to the USA in the late 1800s or early 1900s.

I am now a member of the Body of Christ/the Church.
