Demon Possession: The New Confession Of Modern Youth

No friends, in every post I simply state unbelief in physical, literal human possession by demons in this age only. I think this is the third time so far in this thread but here I say again: satan is the god of this world, he runs it, all media/tv/movies/governments/economies/music, etc is his and he controls it not through goofy devil fan worship of him but through subtle deception and worldly distraction. Make no mistake, the devil worshipping misfits are included in the world and lost. I am not condoning that idiocy. I am saying 99% of the lost will die lost because of the world, not overt satan worship. Who is the god of this world again?

Are there demons all around us, principalities, powers - of course. Are they visible - no and for a reason. So forget the exorcist movies you saw, that is hollywood/catholic nonsense. The whole alice cooper/marilon manson type gothic nonsense was born out of hollywood and the RCC. It is make believe folks. I challenge any of you to find an example of a satanic type musician prior to the release of the exorcist in 73.

Seems almost every disagreeing post in this thread is due to misreading, lack of comprehension or reading partially and then blurting out emotional responses about Bible passages that say there was a demon here or there. Sorry folks, check your calendars, we are well past Pentecost or even 90AD if that is how you believe. I am still waiting for someone to post their eyewitness account of their aunt who was possessed (or did she have hiccups?) I can't remember :)

It is always been my experience that if folks (lost or saved) desparately want to believe signs/miracles/demons/ghosts/gobblins/bigfeet, there is no reasoning with them. So have fun with it.

Yeah, I guess I misunderstood your position, so thanks for taking the time to clarify. I still disagree, though I think it'd be a fruitless effort to engage in a discussion of why or why not.

With regard to your musician challenge - Black Sabbath and frontman Ozzy Osbourne began making overtly occultic/satanist music in 1969. They made the use of the tritone, or "the devil's interval", popular in because of it's dark and ominous sound. Not that I think that has any bearing on the issue at hand; just sharing facts where you asked for some. :)

It would seem that there is clearly demon possession right up through the entire time that the bible was written by the inspiration of God.  To say that there is no evidence of it continuing into later times is then asking for "extra-biblical" revelation to support that.  The bible is very clear that there will be no further revelations, if we are seeking revelation outside of the received word, then we are on the very slippery path of a host of cults who all base their beliefs on extra-biblical revelation.  I see nothing clearly in the received word that states demon possession is going to cease, therefore, I can not say dogmatically that it doesn't happen today.  I will say that I do believe it is absolutely impossible for a saved person with the indwelling Holy Spirit to be possessed.  From what I have read, and from what I have personally witnessed, I am not going to discount the possibility of demon possession of a lost person today.

All who are unsaved are demon possessed.

Jesus told the Pharisees, "You are of your father the devil"

The question is, in what ways do these demons influence the lost? The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life are the three venues of demon influence, imo.

Yes, the Bible does say these three are of the world.  But I believe the devil uses these amongst the unsaved today.

Incorrect facts Sword, that band hardly imitated satanic appearance and theatrics. They may have had some stupid lyrics but dressed and performed as normal performers (whatever that means), ie. not satanic.

Try again...or don't. I will fax you a 100 dollar bill if you stop though. Man I am tired of this useless topic. Or you can get the last word or whomever, I will exorcize the demon out of me that wants to keep talking about this foolishness.

That was just meant to be a more lighthearted conversational point. I know they were overtly occultic, which I consider satanic; but I wasn't alive back then so I'll defer on it. Not trying to suck you into debating it.

Many of the metal bands have used satanic and occult symbols and terms, including those from the Bible; such as "mark of the beast", "666", "Lucifer", "Satan", "Devil", "demons", along with many references to hell; and, of course, the promoting of wicked sin as fun, "running with the devil" (also the title of a Van Halen song) as fun and in some cases as better than turning to God.

Some of the songs openly speak of listening to the devil, use satanic cult images of the goats head, upside down cross and pentagram.

These overtly satanic promoting groups have turned many lost souls further away from God and prompted many to embrace wickedness more and more, including turning to Satanism, witchcraft and such.

Some of these song writers have spoken of how some of their songs come to them through a "spirit". That's certainly not the Holy Spirit so that only leaves one other option.
