Only a good commentary can be a good resource, all other can lead you astray. And we should be very careful when reading man's word, no matter his name, title, or how popular he is.

A very good church is the best place to learn of God, and every person who had Jesus as Savior ought to have a Church Home and be faithful to it.

We are in a day where there are very few good commentaries that are being written, yet theres more commentaries being written now than anytime in history. And most who write them need to be learning, instead of trying to teach others.

Thank you all for your advice! :)

"Commentaries can be a very good resource. They can help explain supposed contradictions, and things such as that. Last night, in fact, an issue regarding a certain text was explained to me. Some manuscripts say, in Mark 1:2, "That which was written in Isaiah the prophet..." Then, it quotes from Malachi, as well as Isaiah. I learned that, apparently, in Jewish culture, it was permissible to quote the "minor" prophet first, and attribute everything to the "major" prophet. Something like that. Very interesting."

I remember I was confused at that part as well and i read that.

Matthew 23:1-3, "Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
2) Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
3) All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not."

I'm still unsure especially because of all the Woes to the Pharisees I was thinking that it was similar to Matthew 22:21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. and not doctrine but to the governmental aspect. Because in Matthew 16:6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

But my thoughts are as of now that no one except God is perfect so, I should treat the commentaries the same as one would a church. Now i just need to learn more about Separation and how far that extends.
