Remember just because a church calls itself a church does not mean its a true New Testament Church with Jesus as its head.

Remember to, many of those churches out there that claim to be filled with Christians do not teach the one, and only one way a person can be saved, by grace though faith, but by works, baptizing, and so on. So prOBably in such a church there is very few Christians if any.

I've spoke against Harry Potter and the books by C. S. Lewis. One of our members brought one of C. S. Lewis's fiction books to church one evening, I told her, this is the devils book, a Christian should not have it, its only good for burning.

And some Christians know that the book is wrong to have but will get rid of it by selling it at a garage sale or giving it to someone instead of throwing the thing in the trash. I know that was one of the first things I did (when I truly started living for Christ - still don't feel like I'm finished) was starting going through the house throwing away books and movies and never wanted to see again or even have in my house. Could have easily sold them but that's just wrong to influence someone else negatively for a few bucks. Edited by DennisD

Absolutely excellent post! How many prOBlamatic and outright false "Christian" books would be out of circulation today if we (Christians) who learn they are this way tossed them into the trash rather than selling them at yard sales or on ebay and instead of donating them to some organization or person.

A few years ago I went through books I had which I hadn't looked at in years. In doing this I found many prOBlamatic and even false "Christian" books I had aquired over the years. For a moment I considered giving some of them away but I "heard" the Holy Ghost telling me that if they were not good enough for me to read, nOBody else should be reading them either. Eventually I decided to pitch several books and as I looked at all them the flesh and the devil tempted me again by pointing out how much money I had spent on those books, how somebody might get some good out of those books, and even the idea there is something wrong or evil in tossing books in the trash. Thankfully, in the Lord's strength (not my own!) I bagged the books and took them out the door and placed them in the garbage can.

One of the dangers of books written by those such as C.S. Lewis is there can be such a mixture of some good things mingled right among the bad things. Most folks can't separate the good from the bad and swallow both. Besides that, our Lord warned us that even a little leaven leavens the whole. Why turn to books with leaven when there are plenty of good unleavened, truely Christian books out there?

Your 100% right, and the right thing to do is burn it up. Like the saloon owner did many years ago that got saved. he broke and poured out all the whiskey and been in the streets.

Selling such stuff to others would be a sin.
