Helpless, hapless, and hopeless.

Hopeless- reprOBates, etc.
Hapless- victimized often by others and circumstances.
Helpless- All of the above, and more. Those who are deeply engulfed in sin, as a fly in a spiders web.

Hopeless to defeat sin in their lives;
Helpless to do anything about their state; to be what God wants them to be;
Hapless to have fallen so low.

Helpless in our own power;
Helpless to stand against Satan’s wiles;
Helpless to help ourselves.

Hopeless to contend with evil;
Hopeless to cope with life;
Hopeless to help “work things out”.

Hapless to love others;
Hapless to venture onward in life;
Hapless to help our families woes.

Helpless to save ourselves from destruction;
Helpless to quicken our spirit with life;

Hopeless without Jesus;
Hopeless without our God.

Hapless to have been in such a state;
Hapless to be rejected by God.

Hopelessness-Normal state of man without Christ;
Helplessness-to change our destiny, our direction in life;
Hapless- unfortunate in our dilemma;

Hapless that we are hopelessly helpless!

Made me think of this.

Does God help those who help them self, or those who say, "I'm helpless, I have to depend on You?"

Our pastor pointed out some things many professing Christians, as well as non-Christians, actually think are in the Bible. Among those is the idea that "God helps those who help themselves". Even among professing Christians nearly half believe that's in the Bible.

Of course that is not a quote from the Bible. The Bible actually teaches us to put our full dependence upon God. We are to live our lives in OBedience to His Word and trust Him with the outcome. This is to apply to every aspect of our lives, from who we marry to how we parent, to how we relate to our government, bosses at work, co-workers and others, the church we attend, the work we do, what we do with our finances, how we live in every area.

Right, yet some believe that whole heartily.

I was about to get off topic, high-jacking Marty's topic, yet I didn't, I started another one.
