Good answer (I think?)

I don't know if I should really post this here or not, but if you've been a witness for long, you get some INTERESTING answers. I had to share this one.

I was talking to this guy about the Lord and I asked him if he had ever been saved. He assured me he had and shared the following.

"One day I was at this chicks house and her old man was not there (you can imagine the rest.) All of the sudden, we hear her old man pull up in the driveway. I jumped out the window and took off across the yard. He saw me, grabbed his gun and started chasing me. He was yelling he was going to kill me. I ran through the country, burst through some brush onto a road top. I saw a car coming, stuck out my thumb, and the car stopped. I hopped in, and the guy took off. I was saved.":lol:

Of course I explained the difference in what I meant, but that was SOME answer. What do you think?

Oh boy...

Someone told me once that he believed Jesus would save him when he called - no matter what. Like if he were in a ship and it began to sink, he could ask God to save him and He would. Had to scratch my head on that one...

You bring an interesting point. We Christians are so quick with the phrases...
- born again
- saved
- do you know the Lord
- are you right with God
- etc

I TRY to avoid these phrases as the lost person has no idea what they mean.

Here's an interesting story though.. When I had my bookstore a lady came in and browsed around. After a while she came up to me and said "Is this one of those "born again" bookstores? (She could tell from my inventory) We talked a bit and I found out that she was catholic.

I smiled and asked her if I could show her something from the Bible... She agreed and I took her to John 3:3 and 3:7 and I explained to her that every christian was "born again" and everybody else needed to be "born again." She smiled and said that she didn't realized "born again" was in the Bible.

She didn't get saved that day.. .but she at least heard the gospel....

Funny story, but yet so sad. Its amazing, that even in America there be people who do not know what being saved is.

Yes, there is a large missionary field in our home country.

Before I say this, I want it known, I come shot of God's glory in many ways.

But yet, I fail to understand the man who claims he has been called to a foreign country to be a missionary, but yet in his own country he makes no effort to reach the lost.

Can someone explain that to me? Am I missing something? I would think if you can't or don't reach them in your home country, it would be impossible to reach the lost in a foreign country.

My guess would be the guy knew exactly what was meant by "saved".

Great OBservation. Great truth. A soul winner is a soul winner where ever he/she is at the time. They may be called to a location, but soul winning does not start and stop with "your people."
