have you ever heard the expression "They are so heavenly minded that they are no earthly good"? Isn't that how we are supposed to be? Why would i want to be any "earthly good" anyway? A couple of scriptures are brought to mind concerning this subject: Heavenly minded: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (Mt. 6:33,34) If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your …

I upgraded Online Baptist Ladies tonight to the latest version of MyBB. I even changed the theme for Trish. http://onlinebaptist.com/ladies/index.php Hopefully 2011 will the the year I will be able to convert Online Baptist Ladies to IPB. What that would do would allow ladies to have one login for both OB and OBL and share all the same features, but still have the privacy of your own board.

CPAC sponsor drives conservative groups away Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 1/7/2011 3:40:00 AM Several pro-family organizations have announced they won't attend an upcoming conservative gathering in Washington, DC, because among its sponsors is a homosexual activist group. The American Conservative Union's (ACU) Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is normally one of the largest annual gatherings for conservative activists and a platform for Republican presidential candidates. However, this year's event, scheduled for February 10-12 in Washington, DC, will be missing some major conservative heavy-hitters, including the American Family Association (AFA), …

This morning I finished this book written by Rick Schworer. It took me awhile to read this book, not because it is hard to read, as a matter of fact I found it very easy to read and very interesting, it is just with all that I have had going on, reading time has been at a premium. That it was well written and put together kept drawing me back to it. I have read many books on the Revelation and found them informative, they were hard to read because they were dry, wordy, or written on a level that seemed very scholarly. I found Rick's book worded in a way that made me want to know what he had to say next. I have not seen the Book (Revelation) laid out the way Mr.…

What do you think of the growing trend to use iphones and such with Bible apps in church? This seems to be becoming very popular in many churches with those attending services, Sunday schools, Bible studies, etc. Is this good or bad? Is this a distraction? Is there too much temptation there to use the iphone for things other than the Bible app while in church? Would it be better if folks actually carried a physical Bible and learned to use it? Has this come to your church yet?

The Turmoil In The Middle East Posted on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 09:15PM Westerners are looking at what is happening on the Egyptian streets and wondering if it is good for an oppressed people to protest against a semi-dictatorial regime. Most of these young protesters cannot find jobs, and inflation has ravaged the middle class, to say nothing of the gulf between the very rich and the very poor. On the surface, this is an understandable situation. But before you judge the motives of the protestors, you must know who is really behind those young people on the streets. The Muslim Brotherhood has been thirsting for power in Egypt for many, many years. Founded bac…

Why is it most pastors and Christians in general seem unable to present many biblical truths without making what seems like, or is, apology for the truth, and often spend more time bowing to the PC times in overboard explanations than they do in presenting biblical truth? For example: Why can't the truth of Scripture be proclaimed regarding chastity, purity, sex only within marriage, marriage for life, raising children according to the Word and similar topics without long, distracting and often apologetic speeches attached in an attempt not to offend anyone? Why do so many Christains feel the need when discussing such topics to lift up single moms as if they are migh…

George W. Bush’s daughter promotes gay ‘marriage’ in New York by Thaddeus Baklinski Wed Feb 02, 2011 18:35 EST (LifeSiteNews.com) - George W. Bush’s daughter Barbara has joined her mother in opposing the former president’s stand against same-sex “marriage” by appearing in a video promoting gay “marriage” in New York. Last May, former first lady Laura Bush had told television talk show host Larry King that she disagreed with her husband regarding the legality of homosexual “marriage.” A screenshot from the HRC ad featuring Barbara Bush.“Do you think we should have it?” King asked. “Well, I think that we ought to definitely look at it,” Mrs. Bush responded. “When…

I'm looking to put my book on Amazon Kindle this week, if everything works out well. Lo and behold, I've discovered there's a debate about DRM with eBooks. Those of you who have these devices, what is your take? In my experience, Christians completely ignore the command to not steal and copy anything and everything they can and pass it out under the guise of "being a blessing." That's why I wanted to do DRM, but now I'm having second thoughts.

Taken from my Facebook: "It's this. On a set day, a bunch of guys (I say 'guys' for a reason) go to Wal-Mart, or some other store, to buy something. As they go to the cash-register and attempt to purchase the item, they refuse to pay tax, due to what the money would partially be going to (specifically, abortion; Planned Parenthood). Meanwhile, a guy behind him, who would act like they didn't know each other, would have a camera pen in his shirt pocket, recording video and audio (for YouTube). It's dangerous, as security, police, etc. could be called. You might get thrown in jail, fined, whatever. But it would get the point across - we don't want to support MURDER. …

The news was strangely quiet about it except for reporting it soon after it happened, but do a search for the killing of Nancy Davis...really sad...a missionary couple I'm sure were saved and doing a good work in Mexico. Gunned down after a checkpoint. Sad. The violence of Mexico has really been toned down with all this border mess.

http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/01/28/fully-mature-black-holes-time-stands/ I've always wondered if a Black Hole could be the lake of fire....We know in a Black Hole that it is so hot, that objects which get anywhere within the event horizon get so hot, they emit x-rays. We also know time stands still inside of a black hole... and we know that things are constantly being pulled towards the center. It would also, of course, be a very DARK "hot".... Its really something to think about, even if not...its a good picture.

PAUL, A Man of Grace and Grit From the Bible – Teaching Ministry of Charles R. Swindoll, Insight for Living Goals; “Knowledge…apply what we learn so that we will change and grow.” Disclaimer: Let me begin by telling you up front there are no KJV scripture quotations. I’m not going to debate versions in this book review. Although the book was meant to be a study guide, I read it as a book on the life of Paul and referred to my own KJV for scriptures referenced. I personally didn’t like some of the non-Biblical quotations chosen for emphasizing some facts. Introduction A quote from the introduction… “Join us now as we set out to dispel the erroneous myths surrounding…

The hostess apologized to her unexpected guest for serving an apple-pie without any cheese. The little boy of the family left the room quietly for a moment and returned with a piece of cheese which he laid on the guest's plate. The visitor smiled, put the cheese into his mouth and then said: "You must have better eyes than your mother, sonny. Where did you find the cheese?" "In the rat-trap, sir," replied the boy.

I was listening to an old Fundamentalist preacher talking about how much has changed within Fundamentalism during his lifetime. This kind of got me to wondering how many of us hold to the Fundamentalism of then or have accepted the changes and hold to the changed Fundamentalism. He spoke of how early Fundamentalists would accept either no make-up or the absolute minimal amount which was virtually unnoticible. "Painted ladies" was considered to be for prostitutes and a sign of worldliness. He spoke of how the Fundamentalist women back then all had long hair and knew why and what that meant. He spoke of how Fundamentalist women wore ankle to floor length dresses all y…
