    We had friends to lunch and I did a Melon then crudité starters, Lentil onion tomato and celery thingy baked with a slice of butternut on top, served with baked parsnips, aubergine, courgette, red and yellow mini pepper, tomato and red onion, roast turkey slices with morello cherry frangipane tart with ice cream for dessert.  Didn't feel like much supper.

    Waitresses with nose jewelry.  I find it very unappetizing when my food server has things dangling from her nose or hanging from her lip.

    I guess its just me and having been so "sheltered" from all this sort of stuff from spending so much of my Christian life in remote Alaska. But I see people all over this board that OBviousley listen to and watch radio and TV preachers.

    I have a hard time understanding why anyone would feel the need to watch or listen to these men if they are members of a Bible believing Independent Baptist Church. Are they not getting all they need from their own church?

    Why wade through all the different teachings of these men when we supposedly have the Spirit led truth in our local churches?

    For my part, I never have and never will listen to or watch media preachers. I guess I really am a local church guy, but I don't make any apologies for it

    Don't know how this applies but it comes to mind.

    my Pastor told me this.

    He knows an evangelist that goes to India every year and has Tent Evangelistic meetings.

    Well one of the indians invited his neighbor to come. he said "You gotta come hear all about Jesus"

    the guy responded with "I am Muslim and I will not come, do not ask me again"

    the next day he invited him again, he said im telling you that you have to come hear about Jesus.

    the muslim responded "I told you I am a muslim, I don't believe in the same Jesus you believe in, if you ask me again I am going to kill you."

    the next day he invited him one more time, the man said "I told you if you invited me that I was going to kill you, if you are willing to die for this Jesus, than I will come and hear about him."

    he came that night and got saved.

    John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

    John 16:7,8,9,10,11
    Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
    And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
    Of sin, because they believe not on me;
    Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
    Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

    "reprove" or ἐλέγχω
    to convict, refute, confute generally with a suggestion of shame of the person convicted by conviction to bring to the light, to expose to find fault with, correct by word to reprehend severely, chide, admonish, reprove to call to account, show one his fault, demand an explanation by deed to chasten, to punish The KJV translates ἐλέγχω in the following manner: reprove (6x), rebuke (5x), convince (4x), tell (one's) fault (1x), convict (1x).

    Going to have to fire up both barbecues' this time.  Chicken in one; corn on the cOB, and vegie kabOBs with squash, mushrooms, onions, and peppers in the other.  Sun tea is brewing.  Making homemade mud pie ice cream.  Put new sand in the horseshoe pits, filled the wading pool for the kiddies, and invited a friends family over for a relaxing summer afternoon of horse shoes, food, and water fights.  Gotta love August.

    First of all, conscience is nothing more than the manifestation of the law that is written into the hearts of all men. It is not the Holy Spirit.

    Now to address your claim that there is no mention of the Holy Spirit conviction I will provide just a few of the host of scriptures.

    John 6:44 (KJV)
    44  No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

    John 6:63 (KJV)
    63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

    John 6:65 (KJV)
    65  And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

    John 4:21-24 (KJV)
    21  Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
    22  Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
    23  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
    24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

    Ephesians 4:4 (KJV)
    4  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

    Romans 8:30 (KJV)
    30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

    2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV)
    18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

    Ephesians 2:21-22 (KJV)
    21  In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
    22  In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

    1 Peter 1:21-23 (KJV)
    21  Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
    22  Seeing ye have purified your souls in OBeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
    23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

    1 John 5:6 (KJV)
    6  This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

    Never shake a gallon jug of orange juice with pulp without making sure the cap is SECURELY fastened first. Related facts:  OJ does not smell good when it hits the burners on the stove you are using to cook breakfast.  The natural citrus in OJ is NOT good as a cleansing agent.

    How interesting that you would post this, AVBB! This is the reading from today's Days of Praise.  Days of Praise is put out by the Institute for Creation Research, which is a KJB organization.  Anyway, it's something that I've been ruminating on since I read it this morning and had been thinking of posting about it.

    I think the question needs to be redifined to something along the lines of "Does having a Mohawk or anything else attributed to today's worldly culture glorify God?" If it doesn't than don't do it. We are representatives of Christ in this world and as such we have a responsibility to be lights amidst the darkness ... JM2C
