Back when I had a country store, a lady stopped in for gas.

She first pulled up in front amd praked in front of the gas pumps.

Got out of her car when and got the gas nozzle and looked for her gas cap, it was on the other side of the car. She replaced the gas nozzle, got back in her car.

Them she went froward and turned and came back on the other side of the gas pumps, again with her gas tank on the opposite side.

Yes, I'm inside watching her going like this. :nutty

She gets back out of her car and goes and take the gas nozzle off the pump, turns to her car to take the gas cap off, its no there.

She looks around at everything, lays the gas nozzle on the ground, walks to the other side of the car, sees her gas cap, reaches up and is scratching her head, tying to figure out what is going on.

Yes, this was self service gas.

She stand there and the look on her face is pure amazement.

At that time I walk out front and asked her if I could help her.

She goes on t oexplain everything to me and she could not understand how the gas tank was on the wrong side of her car.

I went and got the gas nozzle, pulled in around and took the gas cap off, put the nozzle in and started putting gas in, I turned and asked her how much she wanted.

She said fill it up, but what in the world did I do wrong.

Hey, I was smart enough not to try and explain to this lady what she had done. :peek:

She turned out to be a great customer after that and never had another problem getting gas.

Sounds like that lady found the perfect way to have someone pump her gas for her from that point on! Did you wash her windows and check her oil while you were at it? :tum

I would gladly pay extra money for "service with a smile" like they did in the days before Jimmy Carter!

ok, I admit, I have pulled in to get gas and the gas tank was on the other side of the car. I still do it. I had a car before the one I drive now where the gas tank was on the drivers side, now my new car, it is on the passenger side, but, if I am not paying attention, i will park my car on the wrong side. LOL

Women really are NOT that bad of drivers, we can drive and put our make up on at the same time...LOL

At one time the gas hose was always long enough to reach to the other side of the car just in case you pulled up on the offside, but that seems not to be the case in modern time.

Were the old ways of time past a bit better?

Like you said, back them they would pump your gas, clean your windshield, check you radiator, and if asked would check the air in your tires.

Not no more! Plus look at what gas cost these days. :eek

In the old days the extra service was free as well.

Amazing. :peek:
