Dumb Lawmakers

I have been traveling these past two weeks through Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Illinois. I came upon these signs at a little general store/gas station just outside of Nashville TN. I laughed so hard the clerk though I had lost my mind! Hanging above the counter where they sell cigarettes these two signs were posted, and I asked her if she would make a copy of them for me. I want to share them with y'all:

NOTICE

A STUPID NEW LAW HAS BEEN PASSED AND EFFECTIVE JULY 1ST, 2007 WE WILL NOW HAVE TO CARD EVERYONE BUYING AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE. THIS MEANS IF YOU ARE 100 YEARS OLD WE WILL STILL NEED TO SEE YOUR I.D. WE ARE SORRY FOR THIS INCOVENIENCE. WE ARE THE ONLY STATE OUT OF 50 TO HAVE THIS DUMB LAW, BUT I GUESS THESE LAW MAKERS WHO VOTED FOR THIS LAW THINK WE ARE AS STUPID AS THEY ARE. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS, YOU NEED TO MAKE A CALL TO YOUR LOCAL STATE REPRESENTATIVE AND SEE IF HE VOTED FOR THIS LAW.

And the sign posted next to it said:

DUE TO OUR TAX CRAZY GOVENOR YOUR CIGARETTES WILL NOW COST YOU A LOT MORE MONEY. WE ARE SORRY. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS YOU CAN CALL THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE AT: 741-2001
