We have one car and for sure could use another, but can't afford it.

Not everyone is like the people you know. :smile

Jerry with #'s...you made a post I agree with! I agree with John also that feminism and materialism have sadly taken a huge toll on society, especially Christian society as we have chosen to be influenced by it.

By almost everyones standards, we need two cars and only have one and that one isn't that reliable. My husband tells them we'll buy another car when we can AFFORD another car. Their solution? Send your wife out to work. Some of them think it's "unfair" that my husband is out looking for a night job for three nights a week after his day job because he should send out his homemaker wife who "doesn't do anything but sit at home". Uh excuse me I have a seven month old son and a house to care for. I have PLENTY to do and he tells them that lol, but apparently even in the Christian world, that isn't a "valid" profession anymore. (By the way, why do we NEED two cars when I am a stay at home wife LOL).

Its nice to know there are a few people who are not caught up in the modern day race to keep up with those of the world and try to have as much stuff as they get.

Seems to me, God's children ought not to be so caught up in materialism. All materialism is, is lusting for all the world has to offer and God's children are suppose to have overcome that.

But I find there are not many who agree with me on that, but that's fine, I'm content, I see many of them that are never content, no matter how much stuff they get nor how much stuff they owe for.

I'm very thankful, we owe no man, hopefully it will stay that way unless we have some medical expenses that comes up.

I might add, many pastors are caught up in materialism just as many church members are, but pastors ought to know better and set the proper example. Nothing worse than a pastor who is neck deep in debts to the world because they have not learned contentment in the Lord.

We try to buy a new car every 10 years, I usually keep the old one for myself.

No it isn't, but God's children who are neck deep in debt surely goes against the teachings of the Lord thy God.

And the reason most people are neck deep in debt, they have never learned to be content in our Lord.

Material items will not bring true happiness, but that is exactly where many are tying to get their happiness.

Did you know being deep in debt is one of the major causes of divorces?

Yeah but the thing is in the recent past you have changed several threads into the rant of people being in debt. Somehow it keeps coming up with you! :tum Of course, many Americans are in debt. But ranting on Christians and especially pastors is unnecessary to keep going and going and going on it, when its not even really the topic of the thread.

Just because you are a pastor who buys a car every 10 years doesn't mean that is God's requirement for everyone. Each person is accountable to God for how he does his finances, and everyone does it differently.

Do you just mind part of God's ways are all of them?

And that one thing is one of the major problems with modern Christians.

And its not a rant, its all about following God closely.
