Due to very poor handling of our forests, the western states face severe fires every summer. We are in that season now. One of our members went to the fire on the Oregon line to help fight it...will be gone for quite a while. They are hoping they can stop it from jumping the line and joining another fire in  WA that is close.

Sixty miles away from us, a fire is burning. 100 acres were destroyed this morning and now it is up to 350. People on the west side of Seattle (2 hours away) can see the flames from this fire. We cannot yet, but we are surrounded by trees. It is dry, which adds to the power the fire has.

I would most certainly appreciate prayer for these fires.

11,000 acres burned at the Oregon line fire as of this morning.  We smelled a little smoke while we were in Silverdale, and it's been cloudy today. Other than that, no effect on us. The firefighters are being taken well care of by the surrounding communities - food, water, etc. I wish we could do something, but we are praying.
