I have heard that having Marigolds keeps the insects away from your plants. Is that true or not?

Very true. :thumb Marigolds are considered the workhorses among beneficial flowers to have in the garden. The pungent odor of their blossoms and foliage is nauseous to many noxious pests.

So if I get to actually dig a garden bed, I could put Marigolds around the border as a "natural" pest control?

...and mixed in thru-out the bed amongst the veggies and plants. Not only do they do their job better when in close proximity to the plants they are protecting but they add attractiveness to the patch. :Green
