Thanks. The dark background ones, with the nice contrast, have been artificially tarnished. I tried one method with mine which involved washing the ring in a solution of dishsoap, ammonia, and water, then placing it in an air-tight ziplock bag with a crushed, hardboiled egg for two hours. It didn't work too well, or either I did something wrong. I will have to try again or use another method.
