Salvation

A couple from our church are currently involved with a short term missionary group in Africa. Besides all the great things going on with their missionary work with the locals we received other great news.

Two of the missionaries in the group were born again and baptized this past week! One of the missionaries had thought they were saved but came to realize he had never been born again. The other was actually a closet atheist who got involved with the mission group as a means of irritating her parents.

The key to their salvation was how much time they were reading the Word of God each day. The last several weeks this missionary team was in an area of Africa with no electricity, internet, phone or any such things. As a result, everyone spent a great deal of time reading their Bible each day. The Holy Ghost used this abundant time in the Word to not only build the followers of Christ up in the Word, but to open the eyes and hearts of the two missionary members who were lost.

What a wonderful God we serve!

That is exactly it.  the word of God and the conviction of the Holy Ghost with that word does reveal their need of and can move people to salvation.

Without the word of God no one would be saved.  the word of God has to be preached and can only be done by those sent, and those who hear must hear it and believe it  And what are they hear to?  The word of God.  what are men to preach? The word of God.

Roms 10:14-17 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?   And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!   But they have not all OBeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?   So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
