Perhaps you don't get it.

Years ago the pastor of the country church would go home to eat dinner with one of the members. Of course with the preacher coming for dinner they would kill one or 2 of their best chickens, so the preacher pretty well had chicken for dinner every Sunday.

No kidding.

Many of the country flocks, the only fresh meat they had was a freshly killed chicken right out of the yard, in those days most all country people had a yeard full of yard birds, chickens.

So yes, it has humor in it, if you know the back ground.

I understood it, brother, but thank you nonetheless. Perhaps I am simply reading too much into it. I just get tired of jokes about food, such as eating too much/not eating right, things like that, because there's nothing funny about it.

I have seen a right-many chunky Baptist preachers.

This preacher is 155 lbs. @ 5'8", and I've eaten my share of fowl meat. Yep a bunch of good ole boys have a prOBlem of pushing away from the table.

155# is my preaching weight, like a good boxer watches his weight. Got to be ready to go the distance. 1 round of 15 still need to be in shape, not a shape.

I'm limited somewhat to what I can do, and at 63 nearly 64 my weight is going up just a bit, and my waist has grown a bit. I think I'm about to hit 170.
