The cross of Christ’s crucifixion speaks of the glory of God and of Heaven:

The upright beam points to the Father in Heaven, just as Christ did in His earthly ministry; it is grounded in the earth and yet pierces the sky in the freedom of its message. It stands as a monument for Truth and Life, and nOBly points the way to both. It points to the future home and hope of all saints.

The cross-bar speaks of an all inclusive love, as if the arms of God were to give the world a great big hug; this cross bar also speaks of direction, again including all men from every corner of the earth. It points in two directions, reminding us that there are different roads leading to Calvary, but only One Savior, as there was room for no more than one on the cross.

The wood of the cross speaks of enduring the storms of life--standing straight and tall against all odds, and showing itself strong in spite of what goes on around it. Wood—made by God, but formed into a cross by man; it was made of two parts. This speaks of the unity of God and man, and the Man-God that hung there; to the one it was a reproach; to the other, a monument of glory. It stands as a memorial throughout the ages to the wayfaring stranger and a hope for the forlorn soul. Christ was crucified as man, and rose again as God Himself. The empty cross speaks of victory over death and sin, and will forever represent Calvary, and the great sacrifice that Christ made there for us. Blessed be the name of the Lord for this unspeakable gift.
