OK, ok, I know it's not theologically correct, but it is funny.

Three nurses went to heaven, and were awaiting their turn with St. Peter to plead their case to enter the pearly gates.

The first nurse said, "I worked in an emergency room. We tried our best to help patients, even though occasionally we did lose one. I think I deserve to go to heaven." St. Peter looks at her file and admits her to heaven.

The second nurse says, "I worked in an operating room. It's a very high stress environment and we do our best. Sometimes the patients are too sick and we lose them, but overall we try very hard." St. Peter looks at her file and admits her to heaven.

The third nurse says, "I was a case manager for an HMO."

St. Peter looks at her file. He pulls out a calculator and starts punching away at it furiously, constantly going back to the nurse's file. After a few minutes St. Peter looks up, smiles, and says, "Congratulations! You've been admitted to heaven ... for five days!"

 We once had an insurance company that denied practically every single claim until we filled out a form declaring that we did NOT have any other insurance. You'd think they would have calculated the cost of sending out that form with every claim! I wanted to ask them what part of Stay-at-home-mom did they not understand? :loco Guess they just couldn't comprehend someone with a bunch of kids living on one income.

People had trouble believing that we could make it on one income, now with all 5 kids grown and it just being the 2 of us people still have trouble believing it's possible for us to survive on just one income.

Isn't that just crazy? It so irritates me some days. Then you get these people who assume (wrongly I might add) that since you live on one income and have anything descent to your name that you are either in debt up to your neck, that your hubby makes TONS of money or both. My husband has a good job, but most people we know make significantly more because the are dual income, but we compensate for an aweful lot by making a lot of things ourselves, working on our own vehicles and house repairs, buying everything as cheaply (though descent quality) as possible, and by doing without some things that we don't really need.

Let's face it -- by the time they count daycare, babysitters, extra vehicle costs, and tax rates -- there went most of the 2nd income. We paid off our last bill in 1981 just before I got out of the military.

No kidding! My sil just started a daycare in her home because she was tired of spending so much for babysitter and an extra vehicle.
