  1. I agree. We found out that this "pastor" had been using the NIV for a short while at BJU, and that he had been pushing it there as well behind the scenes. It's a shame when the people who are in our pulpits feel they have to be deceptive, and are doing so to the detriment of Christians.
  2. If the church let him do it, even if he was doing it "on the sly," then they're just as culpable. We had a pastor in a church that Vivian and I helped start in Augusta, GA back in 1983, where the pastor was elected from Bob Jones University. He told us he was a King James Bible believer, yet, on the Christmas of 1984, every family received a copy of the NIV, and the inscription said that this was his Bible of choice and that he hoped we would read IT faithfully. UGH! We left that church after it became apparent that this wasn't the only thing he was trying to change. Many of the founding members left with us.
  3. Have you? Don't think so, sir! LOL
  4. My father, being a "cobbler" (shoe repairman and salesperson) used to give us that joke often! I always loved it.
  5. I can empathize with you on needing a larger print, and not being able to be online like I used to be. Much of my ministry over the past few years has been online. I'm sure that I will be spending a bit of time in the hospital over the next few years....heart and lung issues for me. You're in our prayers here.

  7. That's YOUR experience and opinion. Thankfully, it's not everybody's. And, as I've stated in other posts in response to you, you're ALWAYS welcome to your opinion. I wouldn't try to take it from you. ?
  8. He's FAR from an Andy Stanley type. Again..your opinion, and you're entitled to it.

  10. The president of the college is putting the revival back into perspective for the students. Twenty-four hour worship on campus won't be allowed (at least not as it has been for the last ten days) after Wednesday. He wants to balance the student experience with the things happening now. I missed putting the link...If I can find it again, I'll post it. Not to be a wet blanket, but, only time will tell if this "revival" is real.
  11. We had a wonderful time at our late Valentine's Day dinner at church.

  14. The first Bible college I went to, run by an IFB church, practiced this. I always hated it, and I tried to make sure that only sincere people were saying a prayer. I was told to "disregard" my scruples and let anyone who wanted to say a prayer do so. It was hard, and when that was about to occur, I let the one with me lead in prayer. UGH!

  16. My own input here is this...BAPTISTS aren't the only ones who are saved....Sorry, and it might come as a surprise to many, but, they don't contain the lock and keys on the truth. I believe them to be closest to the Biblical teaching, so, I'm not going to call EVERYONE who doesn't agree with us 'Apostate." I've seen many Baptist churches that have doctrinal errors or extra-biblical doctrines.
  17. Yes, I have...Sad to say that most often this person's decision was made with little or no repentence or desire to have something better. There are some, however, who truly got saved. They'll grow, but slowly. I've seen it happen many times, though it's not the norm.
  18. Welcome, Donut! ?
  19. @Salyan, I have read excerpts from it. I'd love to find it and read the whole thing, though. What I read was somewhat intriguing! ?
