First day of school for me today.  So in honor of "school days" again, I will have a "school lunch menu" dinner.  Cheese pizza, though I will use REAL cheese and not that powdered stuff on a shingle I remember from school cafeteria.  Then a side of carrot sticks, an oatmeal cookie (though mine will have chocolate chips or at least raisins), and then a pint of milk. 
 
Oh yeah..I forgot to include that strange "apple sauce" that always tasted like you were eating a lead pipe because of a metallic taste to it.

Well, I have my textbooks, and I see one of my classes has its syllabus and first weeks homework on our campus site.  I supposed I should read chapter 1 and start on my homework to get a jump on this term.  This term promises to be very interesting.  By the end of the term I am supposed to be an expert on American Health Care system, and current Health Care initiatives.  Pray for me as I try to bite my tongue about my views of the current administration and what I perceive they are doing to the health care industry.

Personally, I guess I have never thought of a rabbit as a pet, anymore than I would think of a deer, elk, bear, antelope. or even a cow as a pet.  It must be a Pacific Northwest thing. Rabbits are a source of food and fur only, in my mind.  Please forgive me if I have offended anyone who keeps rabbits or other traditionally "food" animals as pets.  I don't mean to imply that I want to eat your "Fluffy" or whatever you name your pet rabbit.   There is a reason God created rabbits with an extraordinary ability to reproduce on a massive scale like...well...rabbits.  
 
If someone owns a pot bellied pig for a pet, please forgive me for wanting some bacon right now for breakfast...

Got two deer yesterday!     Will be about a week before its ready to butcher, freezer wrap, and put away but I can't wait!  Since I didn't need to go out hunting today, it is College Football Saturday!!!  Making Hot Wings, Jojo potatoes, Relish Dish, Chips N Dip, and Little Smokies in BBQ sauce for dinner to eat while watching the games.

Note to self:  When slicing a bunch of Jalapenos and Habaneros in the hot sun for canning, resist the temptation to wipe sweat from your eyes.  OUCH!  

I have the soul winners dinner tonight so I have to prepare for 40 people.  Our church is having an "Oregon Trail" promotion/contest this month, so I am making "wagon train" food.  Big pot of Beans, with ham hocks, and diced ham.  I prefer it thick and not soup like so I will be simmering it for almost 6 hours.  Then making corn bread from scratch in cast iron skillets (the only way to make real cornbread).  Drinks will have to be plain water or coffee since that is all they had on the wagon trains.

Annual harvest festival and canning party at friends place after church.  About 5 families all gather for an assembly line canning of all our garden vegetables.  The set up is amazingly efficient and we will can literally, no exaggeration, can hundreds of jars today.  Using 8 portable, propane fueled canning burners, and two long professional stainless steal portable counters with deep sinks and disposals at the ends for cutting and prep.  Everyone has a jOB from 5 year olds on up.  Myself and my associate pastor are the designated cooks for the afternoon, and we will be kept busy keeping about 30 adults and kids, fed and hydrated.  
 
Warning!  What is done with all the rejected vegetables that didn't pass inspection (bug holes, over ripe. etc..) at the end of this?

It is amazing to me how you can find an appropriate scripture for almost any possible thing you can encounter or think of.  The breadth and depth of God's Word continues to amaze me daily.

Note to self:  When putting a spring assisted opening, very sharp pocket knife into your pocket; insure the locking mechanism is securely in the lock position.  I almost qualified myself for guard duty of the Palace harem.
