  1. People "believe" a lot of things but they are often wrong. I have a lot of conversations with JWs and they believe a lot of things that are unbiblical. They are indoctrinated and brainwashed so it is very difficult unless you can get them to think. EXAMPLE, Who sent His angel Rev 22 NWT vrse 6 Jehovah God. verse 16 I Jesus . Same chapter. Who is the first and last verse 12. NWT I Jesus verse 16. Who is the first and last NWT Rev 1:8 Jehovah God Isaiah 44:6 Jehovah God. My NWT is the original 1960 edition and they may have changed some of those in the latest edition. NWT John 1:1 And the word was A God. Q. So you believe in two gods? John 17:3 NWT This means eternal life their, taking in knowledge of you, the only true God and the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ. Question Is Jesus then the true God or a false god?
  2. NWT John 1:1 In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god. Question. So you believe in 2 gods? They will probably say no, but won't expand. NWT John 17:3 This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ. Question. Is Jesus then a true God or a false God. I have not yet asked them that. NWT used for illustration purposes only. They wont accept other translations. I also have photocopies of several of their magazines showing a cross inside a crown the last in the beginning of 1931, but the later 1931 doesn't. They say Jesus was nailed to a stake not a cross. They say the cross is a pagan symbol which churches use. My answer to that would be "Of course it is, Jesus was crucified by the Roman's and they were pagans. Jews were crucified by Antiochus Epiphanes and he was an arch pagan." I also have pages from one their publications, Thy Kingdom Come page 223. 1906 edition "That the deliverance of the saints must take place some time before 1914 is manifest, ..." 1916 edition "That the deliverance of the saints must take place soon after 1914 is manifest, ..." Spot the difference. Another sheet of theirs "Who Will Conquer the WORLD in the 1970s". The date has now changed again to 1975. "As one brother said "Stay alive till Seventy-Five"." It boasts that since 1973 they had record numbers of Pioneers. Another quote from that paper; "Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer services." The first Christian forum I went on had a number of ex JWs . One , Eddie, said he gave up his job and became a part time window cleaner to allow him time to proclaim that this system would end in 1975. He said 1975 came and went and the job ruined his health. I think after 1975 their numbers dropped dramatically. I believe the Armstrong Worldwide Church of God also taught that and had a Publication 1975 Iin prophecy.
  3. I knew he wouldn't come. That is why I put it in that order.
  4. Someone I know, Mike Moore, an evangelist to the Jews, who wrote a lot against JWs, was invited to speak at one of their services. He went and preached the gospel. They said "We agree to differ." He said "NO WE WON'T!"
  5. I said to one who I think is an elder, if you come to our service one Sunday, I will come to yours the following Sunday. He thought for a while and then said "I won't come to your church because your pastor will preach on the trinity." I should have said, he may not that day and you can not believe it, and afterwards speak and challenge him, he won't mind." I sometimes challenge him if I don't agree with him. I said if I have anything to say, I will say it to your face, not behind your back." He said "I appreciate that."
  6. Thank you all. Today I sent her Ray Comfort's video of Dawkins top assistant coming to Christ. She did not reply to that. My son in law has just been signed off on sick leave by the doctor. He has stress which he puts down to his Job. He has a senior job and has trouble with some staff who are continually on sick leave then coming back and going sick again. Another lost his wife, and he gave him an extra week compassionate leave and the man then went on 6 months sick leave. My SILs director won't act on disciplining any of the staff. He works as a senior surveyor of a London council. Probably the busiest one. They not only have to inspect all the new buildings, but also for temporary structures like for the Coronation, the trooping of the colour, and many other events. He has to rely on a lot of agency staff, because of low staff levels, which is not ideal. I think a lot of it is also because of his daughter. I know that my daughter is devastated.
  7. Are heat pumps efficient? I have read reports that they are not. My son in law's mother has one and he said it uses so much electricity to run that it was barely worth it.
  8. Thank you bro DaveW I like that version I also like his "Jesus Paid It All" Praying for brother Jim and Linda.
  9. I got one of those leaflets from their stall at the end of our road, inviting them to their service for the memorial of Jesus' death. I wish now that did go as I would ask them why the celebrate Jesus' death and not his resurrection? They don't believe his actual body was raised, but only a spirit body. I would then point them to 1 15:12-19 Corinthians Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. I will perhaps ask them on the stall at the end of our Road, not when one of the elders are there because they have an answer for everything even though their answers are nonsense.
  10. If you are playing guitar, I would just say that our pastor wont allow a guitar in the church even in the Sunday school. He considers they are too connected with rock music. I pointed out that pianos have also been connected to Rock music and boogie, but it didn't make any difference, he won't change his mind.
  11. Josephus said the holy name consisted of 4 vowels. Y and W are vowels. H is called the silent vowel. There were no Js in the English language before the 16th century. U was also a late addition.
  12. Haddock, onion rings, chips and peas.
  13. UNHOLY MOTHER OF INTOLERANCE: THE INQUISITION Issue Date: January/February 1984 (/battle-cry/article-listing?issue=1 -1984) by Avro Manhattan If Hitler should return and proclaim deep love for the Jews; or Stalin appear and declare himself a Capitalist, would we not take them with a largish pinch of salt? Well, then! Why should we react differently to a similar "phoney" conversion of an institution which has surpassed the evil of both these dictators? Today the Catholic church claims heartfelt love for all those outside her. This is as incongruous as the claims of a repentant Hitler or Stalin. Indeed it would be laughably ridiculous if we were not dealing with tragic matters. Her sudden desire to "embrace the separated brethren" is nothing but her latest device to make people forget the basic spirit of intolerance and fanaticism. That spirit is as alive as ever, ready to strike should the opportunity present itself. All her actions in past centuries speak of nothing else. Her main excuse for intolerance makes strange logic: She is specifically charged by God to save the souls of all Christians. Since the killing of souls was worse than the killing of bodies, she reasoned, and since heretics used their bodies to kill souls, their bodies should pay for the sins of the wicked souls they housed. Thanks to this Catholic logic, soon the ecclesiastical and temporal machineries of the Western world were enriched with the noble practice of judicial torture, expressly employed by Holy Mother Church for the suppression of heresy, later known as Protestantism. In 1252 Pope Innocent IV issued Bull AS EXTIRPANDA. It became the classic in inquisitorial procedure. It provides: 1. that anyone may seize a heretic and despoil him of his property; 2. that every magistrate shall appoint an inquisitorial commission, whose salaries are to be paid by the State; 3. that no law may be passed interfering with these Inquisitors; 4. that heretics who will not confess their heresy shall be tortured; 5. that the confiscated property of heretics shall be thus divided: one-third to the Inquisitors and the bishops, one-third to the city, and one-third to those who aided in the arrest and conviction. Pope Innocent gave precise instructions to all Inquisitors to enforce the regulations throughout Europe. Eventually it was made Statute Law. The regular clergy proved reluctant, so the popes turned to the most fanatical, intolerant and narrow-minded section of the Church structure, the sundry monastic orders. The two which excelled in their infamous task were the Dominicans and the Franciscans. Armed with practically unlimited power from the popes, these Inquisitors swarmed all over Europe like theological hornets, setting up tribunals wherever they appeared. Soon individuals, communities, nations, and indeed, the very hierarchy trembled at the mere mention of their names. Wherever they came, denunciations, accusation, treachery, perjury, torture, woe, and death resulted. The hooded Inquisitors did not content themselves with establishing their court in the sundry lands of Europe. Pope Gregory IX appointed a Dominican Grand Inquisitor for the whole of Armenia and Russia. Pope Urban VI ordered the General of the Dominicans to appoint Inquisitors for Armenia, Greece and Tartary (China). Pope Nicholas IV asked the Patriarch of Jerusalem to create Inquisitors from the mendicant friars in his land. Pope Gregory XI granted authority to the Franciscan Provincial in the Holy Land to act as Chief Inquisitor in Syria, Palestine and even Egypt. When an Inquisitor arrived everybody was commanded, in obedience to the pope and to Mother Church, to disclose the name of anyone suspected of the slightest deviation from the Faith. The Inquisitors issued a compelling threat and a promise. A denouncer would get an indulgence of three years. Those avoiding their duty would be excommunicated. Some denunciations were factual but many were concocted by vengeance, spite of jealousy. Those denounced, even on the flimsiest accusation or mere suspicion, would be arrested and flung directly into prison. This usually was a common dungeon. Cold and damp, it lacked light or sanitation, and contained cut-throats, thieves, and the like. Among these the friars would plant spies to induce the accused, by pretended friendship, threats, or other methods, to admit his guilt. If this first step proved insufficient, the suspected heretic would be chained with heavy irons and left to starve in a dark, foul hole called the durus carcer--"cruel prison." The accused was then brought before the inquisitorial tribunal composed of friars. If he asked the names of his accusers, he was told that only his judges had the right to know their names. He had no such right. He was asked to confess to his guilt. If he pleaded innocence, he would be sent back to prison. On a second or third appearance before the Court, if he persisted he was put to torture. The whole purpose of his trial, of course, was to force a confession of heresy. Torture was inflicted without solid proof of guilt. Two complainers or even one single accuser was sufficient for subjection to the agonies of torture, even if the accused man had, until then, been of unblemished character, pristine honesty and genuine piety. The methods, kinds and degrees of torture were endless. The three basic ones employed were hoisting the man to the ceiling by his hands tied behind his back, breaking him on the rack, or greasing his feet and thrusting them into the fire. If, following all the exquisite devices of torture, the heretic refused to recant or to admit his guilt, then the Inquisitors would pass capital sentence of heresy. Having done that, they would hand him over to the "secular arm," the civil authorities. To complete the macabre farce, the Holy Inquisitors would ask these same temporal powers, in the name of the Church, not to kill the poor accused. This formality was a mere legalistic device to make the Church appear innocent of the blood which was about to be spilled—or rather, burned. The civil authorities could not heed this hypocritical plea, however, lest the Holy Inquisition fall upon them. Refusal to burn the heretic would have placed the temporal authorities themselves on trial for their lives. For heresy, of course! Soon no one was safe from potential arrest. The spying, denunciation, and hunting down of heretics reached cleric or lay, men or women, noble or common. No one was immune from the terrorizing omnipresence of the Holy Inquisition. This reign of Catholic terror lasted for centuries. Hundreds of thousands of men, women, and yes, even children were murdered...burned alive at the stake. Simply because they dared to disagree with the Holy Catholic Church or with her popes. This Catholic terror officially ended less than two hundred years ago. As recently as 1762 a Protestant pastor was condemned to death in France. Why? Simply because he was a Protestant! By whom? By the Catholic Church! Yes, by that same church which now pretends to love her "dear separated brethren." Indeed, in Europe torture was still enforced by all the Tribunals of the Holy Inquisition until the last century, the pope being forced to abolish it only in 1816. It was Napoleon, who entered Madrid in 1808, who was to abolish the Inquisition. When the Spanish Parliament in 1813 declared it incompatible with the Constitution
  14. In most independent Baptist churches around here in England will not pass a plate, have altar calls of have crosses on the walls, inside or out, and the Evangelical church I attended before I moved here it was the same. General Baptists would be members of churches together, have crosses on the walls, pass plates around, have women pastors, and some I have heard of have lent classes, and other RC ideas.
  15. Thanks for your replies folks. (Is there a plural of folk? I'm not sure?) My daughter has cut her off, unfortunately my grandaughter lives about 200 miles away, near my other daughter who is not a believer and likely to encourage her. I told my grandaughter some time ago that there is no such thing as trans, there are male and female and if they are mutilated they are eunuchs. I have been in contact with my grandaughter on WhatsApp and she said that she is not intending to mutilate her body, which is something. I said I loved her dearly and that is why I am very concerned about you, otherwise I would not be concerned. She replied that she loved me too. We will continue to pray for her.
  16. I have told her that. She said she didn't tell me because she knew I would react like that. We pray for her every day as do other members of our family . I wrote to her some months ago when her elder brother said she was thinking about it. Today is said that none of us would be upset if we didnt love you. But we are really upset that you are planning to permanently mutilate your body. You may remember some years ago there were some Muslim attacks on a football match and a café and a Jewish supermarket in Paris. She was on a course in Paris at that time and on the day of the attacks she and five college friends were due to meet for coffee in that café. On the day most of them had to work late or were not well and only one was in the café on the day and he wasn't hurt. She put that down to God's providence. Now she said she doesn't believe in God. My daughter said she will have to cut off her youngest who is 14 from having contact with her sister. Please pray for her she calls herself Rae.
  17. I don't know if this is the best place for this, if it please ove it. The eldest of my granddaughters is planning to transition. It is realily destroying my daughter. I said to her daughter that her mum was so upset that she could hardly speak as he was having difficulty holding back her tears. I said that what makes you think that Frankenstein doctors can make a better job than your creator. I also gave her several bible texts. The sad part is that when she was a teenager she went to camp and said she had become a Christian and was baptised and joined her local Baptist church. Soon after she went to stay with my daughter for a fortnight who said they had a very pleasant time with her. Sometime later she visited again and my daughter said she had completely changed. She has now asked my daughter to help with her food bill this week. My daughter declined and my son in law said he won't give her money. I asked what they thought that I should do but they wouldn't give me any advice. I have helped my granddaughter with paying bill's over the years including lending her quite a large amount for the rent deposit on her apartment. I don't know what to do. So far I have justed messages her back saying she hadn't replied to my text so why should she expect me to answer when she asks for money. She has told my daughter that she will only speak to if she doesn't mention politics, religion or transitioning.u What would you all do?
  18. This evening I did spicy chicken wings.
  19. They had their remembrance service 2 days before passover, on Tuesday.
  20. I looked up three recipes for this and they all said use good quality beef. One said rib eye steak the other two said filet steak which is very expensive. Today I had roast beef and veggies. I have got a leg of lamb in the freezer, I will have to use that sometime. I bought it when it was on ½price offer for Easter, and put in the freezer and forgot about it.
  21. Hi Salyan, I didn't get on the internet much for a long time. I did miss a bit out on that post. I thought I had said that "I met someone who belonged to a New Frontiers church. I challenged him etc" How are you. I don't get out much these days as my legs are not good but sometimes I go shopping on my mobility scooter which the family call my batmobile. Sorry we didn't get to meet you when you came to the UK. I would ha e liked to show you the Martyrs memorial in Canterbury. I suggest that when visitors want to see the Cathedral. I am now living in Ashford and we also have a memorial here. Come to think I have never visited it although some people have a service there every year. The maIn Asford martyr was John Brown a Lollard.
  22. Today I did lamb steak in gravy with Dauphinoise potatoes carrot and green beans .
  23. The only group I know who would come under that heading is New Frontiers started by Terry Virgo. I challenged him about some of their teachings and he gave me a book by Terry Virgo. It has very short chapters and I think I read the first eight. It told how he hid the fact that he was charismatic when he became a pastor. And he held special Friday meetings with one couple and when he had indoctrinated them added another couple etc. Eventually the two deacons gave up trying to fight and resigned which left Virgo to do as he pleased. I passed the book on to an elder of a church which I thought would be under charismatic infiltration and told him to watch out for his church.
  24. I have always understood that to mean "If I were to" .
  25. Roast beef, baked potato and steamed veggies.
