  1. This was what i orinially posted but it disappeared when I lost my Internet connection. It has just suddenly reappeared from somewhere. Just to update everyone. My dear wife Kay went to be with the Lord yesterday. She had a new pneumonia. The first was fluid in the lining of her lungs. They drained that but then she got fluid inside the lungs. She was pretty poorly on Saturday, but seemed to revive on Sunday. She was gripping my hand which she wasn't before. Friends took me to the hospital straight from church on Sunday morning and I was with her till about 7.00. My eldest grandson and his wife visited after their lunch. They left when 2 of my granddaughters arrived with the husband of one of them. The eldest of the two, who is the family language expert, brought in my wife's French bible and read Psalm 103. We then sang God Holds The Key Of All Unknown, What A Friend We Have I Jesus, Psalm 23 (to Crimmond) my wife joining in, then we all prayed and said we loved her. Then yesterday her voice was very week and when I held her hand it was limp. I gave her a drink of apple juice they she just went. My daughter and some of the grandchildren had left about 15 minutes before. My wife had a brain haemorrhage almost exactly 29 years ago and she wasn't expected to survive then, so we had all those extra years. Thank you Lord. Thank you for all your prayers. The following is from the Facebook page of our. former foster son. Yesterday my mum went to glory to be with her Lord she wasn't my biological mum she was the mum given to me by the grace of God who took a broken teenage boy and with the help of God taught him to read to love and to trust God gave me a family I will miss my mum I take comfort that she's with the Lord and I will see her again my heart and my love and my prayers are now with my Dad and my sister's and the rest of the family God bless you mum and until we meet again in glory with the Lord I love you
  2. Thank you, My wife went to be with the Lord yesterday evening. I was with her but the rest of the family left about 10 minutes before. She was very weak on Saturday, but seemed a lot stronger on Sunday, holding my hand firmly, which she hadn't done before. Her voice was stronger as well. Some of my grandchildren were with me and we had a bible reading and sang some hymns, my wife joining in. Then we all prayed before leaving. Then yesterday she was very weak not eating or drinking.
  3. Thank you.my wife has been very weak, but today seems much stronger. She is off oxygen. On Sunday she had twe very bad nosebleeds, they think may fave been caused by the oxygen. The nutritionist saw her today as she has lost a lot of weight. The wanted to weigh her today, but decided that the orthopaedics should see her first, to see if any damage to her spine if she stood. Thank all for your prayers.
  4. I did Pot au feu today should last me a couple more days.
  5. My dear wife was taken to hospital last Tuesday she had been in sever pain for a while. After an X-ray she' was taken to hospital with multiple fractures to her back, fluid on the lungs, and a massive haitus hernia.(We already knew that, but didn't realise it was so sevede. They said that only 10% of her stomach is in the correct place.) When she went in I was told to say goodbye to her and pray with her. Yesterday the drained he lungs and took, a chest X-ray. Still waiting for results on X-ray and tests on ghe lung fluid, possibly heart, or could be something else..
  6. I read most of this many years ago. I have a couple of notes to make. 1. Historicism goes back much more than 500 years. At least till 1200 when the Waldensians published their Treatise on Antichrist. It was also taught by John Huss and the Lollards, who were frequently in correspondence with each other. In fact the early Church writers taught an orderly fulfillment of prophecy. 2. Darby got his ideas of dispensationalism from Edward Irving who first preached on Dispensationalism on Christmas day 1825. He wrote in his Morning Watch magazine. The Irvingites then held annual prophetic conferences in Albury, Some of which Lady Powerscourt attended. She then held similar conferences in her home in Powerscourt in Ireland. Darby and Irving both attended some of these. 2a The lrvingites prophecied that the Rapture would occur July 15 1835. They gathered together to await the event. Basil Atkinson, Irvingism in its Rise, Progress, and Present State. 1836 Atkinson was formerly one of Irving's prophets. According to H. H. Rowdon, The Origins of the Brethren, Darby didn't fully formulate his idea of Dispensationalism till 1841-2.
  7. We had. Church lunch today, plenty of choice. I was gong to make a dish, but decided not to as there is always plenty left over.
  8. Nobody hungry these days? I had roast beef dinner with veggies today.
  9. The 70 weeks were completed in the ministry of Christ. Great tribulation in the gospels was on the Jews in The 3½ year Roman War, AD 66-70. Great tribulation in Revelation was on those who had washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb, ie Christians.
  10. Where in scripture does it say any time for tribulation other than 10 days?
  11. I have never heard of coffee being drunk during the Services. Our church has a time of fellowship with coffee or tea in the back hall after the service. I did go to a church in France once where they had a break before the sermon and had baguettes, but I can't remember what else.
  12. Where does it say the tribulation is seven years? I think that is adding to scripture.
  13. The tribulation on the church has been going on from the founding of the church. John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Revelation 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
  14. As far covid goes, our! Church has not had special cleaning since the covid lock down. Perhaps we should start again as the week before last, one family of six, had covid, and last Sunday our pastor and his wife and five of his children had covid. One of our former foster children became a member of a church in Liverpool which refused to lowdown. They had only 12 members before and 40 after the lock down.
  15. I stopped using socks several years ago, except when i am gong to buy new shoes. I always use slip on shoes which I put on with the aid of a long handled shoe horn.
  16. I did spicy roast chicken today with crinkle cut fries and baked beans, my wife had a cauliflower cheese grill with hers instead of chicken .
  17. I did chicken chips and runner beans today. The runners are a bit prolific at present in the garden. I should have taken some to church this morning to give away, but I forgot.
  18. We don't have a "music portion" in our church. We have hymns interspersed through the service. The pastor or preacher choose the hymns, appropriate to the sermon. We can only use the hymn books approved by the pastor and deacons. Pastor will not allow guitars due to their association with rock music. I did wonder if he has heard any rock or boogie pianists. Pastor does use some dreary hymns. He always reads a psalm the sings a hymn dashed on the same psalm. In the morning it is usually a much mangled version of the psalm, which I don't think most people understand. I did mention it to him and he asked if I didn't like singing psalms. I said I do but I dont think most people actually think what they are singing. I think it is more inappropriate as we have a number of immigrant asylum seekers attend the church and they are mostly people that my daughter teaches English lessons in the church. Some of them only understand a little English. The immigrants are housed in a local Holiday Inn and a couple are also attending lessons at the mormons which are just across the road from there. The mormons have been canvassing their lessons on the local residents Facebook page, but the don't say they are mormons, just give the address.
  19. I can't see how anyone can be saved after the rapture. We were taught that the holy spirit will be removed so no one can be saved. That was when I was in a dispy church but I left there nearly 50 years ago. The teaching of the earliest protestant church that I could trace in history who were pre tribulation taught that the earth would be left without a preacher for those 3½ years
  20. Today I had roast beef with Dijon style potatoes, runner beans from the garden, carrot Dijon potatoes. Potatoes, cream, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, shallots chervil and chives. Baked with grated cheese on top. Recipe calls for fresh chervil, but you can't buy it in the stores here so I used dry chervil.
  21. They used the cross and crown till 1931. At the beginning of the year they han it on the Watchtower and at the end of the year it was gone.
  22. I did a few Well here what you call bell peppers, we just call peppers, and chili just chili. I have met Americans who when the refer to pepper mean chili. At the weekend I did slow cooked beef stew for me and vegetable and bean stew for Kay. It lasted for 3 days finishing it up today for lunch. There was enough gravy left, just, for me to make into hot and sour soup served with homemade wholemeal bread this evening. Kay had a spring roll and a couple of camembert bakes.
  23. I find it hard to believe that followers of Myers and her like are Christian's, as they never have heard the true gospel. When she and others do refer to the bible they make it sound the opposite from what it actually teaches.
