  1. I've long considered him a sound Bible preacher, though I haven' agreed with everything I've heard from him. I hate to see any good man fall. I hope it all works out good for him.
  2. Deuteronomy 5:16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. I remember one of the last sermons one of my former pastors preached on Fathers' Day, He scolded the men up one side and down the other, In front of our wives and children. I don't think my kids or wife were learning to have any "honour" for me that day. As the husband and father, they heard what a lowdown despicable failure I was as he angrily raked us over the coals. I also remember being with this pastor in a store, calling a store clerk the "N word" when he could have been witnessing to the man, so I wonder if I should follow his example?. I also recall that the whole 20+ years he was pastor at our church, his son never once visited him.. Anyway, every year moms received flowers and praises. but when "Father's Day" rolled around, dads got dishonor because, for the past 20+ Father's Day sermons we were shown to have never measured up. Maybe he was preaching to himself? There are 52 weeks in a year: 51 other Sundays a year to "reprove and rebuke" whoever you want. I can say "whoever you "want" because I'm pretty certain the Holy Ghost has nothing to do with some things said from pulpits. But, go ahead, say nice things about Moms, they deserve it, and it's certainly Biblical to do so, but Deuteronomy 5:19 says to honor Fathers too. I know that's speaking of how children are to treat parents; I get that. But pastors, preachers: if you're going to say anything on our day, about us, how about finding some way of teaching our kids to honor us. Because we already know that we are sadly lacking and don't always "measure up" and guess what: We know that Moms fail sometimes too. Study your Bibles a little more; Peter and Paul rebuked and admonished BOTH mothers and fathers but they did it in the same letters. From that, I am inclined to believe that they would have preached it that way too. We all have faults and need correction but to correct at the same time, lets us know that neither is better than the other. It's really worldly to do as the world does. The world treats men and fathers like we're dishonest, unfaithful, "toxic masculine" jokes and characterizes us as buffoons; I'm told that "Homer Simpson" is an example, though I've never watched that show. .
  3. ....and the father-in-law, of the lady above, Jeff Easter's Dad, wrote this song...........
  4. Someone told me that C.H. Spurgeon was a Freemason. I haven't found definitive information on this. Was he? Thanks
  5. We didn't have much time for a garden this year. I have been under the weather but did tiller up about half of the 73x30 green house, then made some rows with the middle buster plow. LynnDee then planted several varieties of lettuce and we've been munching on that like a couple of rabbits for awhile now. Hopefully I can get out there in the fall and till up a fall garden in a few months and we can grow a few more things besides lettuce. We picked about 3 gallons of berries off the mulberry trees and LynnDee made some Mulberry jelly. Delicious. We also had three of the sheep butchered and have been eating stuff like sheep burgers, sheep spaghetti, sheep stew, sheep and potatoes, fried sheep, roasted sheep etc. pretty good.
  6. Do you speak Spanish as well? Does your wife speak english?
  7. I was saved at an altar call in an IFB church, but I got saved before I could even get out of the pew.; Our SB pastor has an altar call every Sunday morning too. I would suggest asking the pastor, privately, in a prayerful, respectful, non-accusatory manner.
  8. Nobody was even implying that and you know it. Are you just here to stir up trouble? If you ever experienced the filling of the Holy Spirit, you would never be the same. Immanuel means "God with us". Jesus Christ was born as "God with us".
  9. John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
  10. Matthew 1: 18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
  11. John 1;11In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not..............................John 1:14 14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one" Jesus himself said: " I and my Father are one." John 10:30 John 14: 8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
  12. I'm sure many "calvinists" are confused having been taught this stuff in their churches. But ones like John McArthur and John Piper I would label as heretics or false teachers; I don't know the specific difference. Word definitions change over time so you will need to go to the King James and see how seriously the words "Heretic" and "Heresy" are used. I believe you will find the meaning a good deal stronger than how it's used today.
  13. 2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. Jesus went to the cross and gave Himself for every man, woman, and child who ever lived or ever will live. To say that Jesus chose some people for Heaven and chose others for Hell, like "Calvinism" does, is to deny the True and living God, because it represents the real Jesus as being a cold, selfish, narcissist. It in effect it "turns God into an image like corruptible man". The calvinist God is very similar to "Allah". I wouldn't call that a "heresy": I would call it a "damnable heresy".
  14. Yes, I've heard/read things like that too. Many teach that God is most interested in his "glory". I liken their concept of "glory to Hitler and his "third reich". The Bible says that Jesus went to the Cross "for the joy set before him" and that "joy" involves "peace and joy in the Holy Ghost". All the "peace and Joy" I ever experienced in the Holy Ghost would have involved loving babies; not watching them burn in Hell.
  15. Yes, the Bible mentions dragons, behemoths, leviathans and unicorns. But, curiously, it never mentions things like jackals, elephants, crocodiles, or the rhinoceros which were once indigenous to the Middle East and even Israel itself. Is that because it really does mention them by other names, like, they were once called dragons, behemoths, leviathans and unicorns? I don't know for sure though I do suspect so. But no one can not honestly say that the Bible mentions dinosaurs. Ancient peoples also drew pictures, made carvings and sculptures of animals with human parts and humans with animal parts, horses with wings, horses with horns in their foreheads, snakes with wings, lions with wings, half man-half horses and all kinds of fanciful stuff, But that doesn't mean those things existed.
  16. replenish (v.) mid-14c., replenishen, "provide" with food or drink, also riches, beauty, etc., from Old French repleniss-, extended present-participle stem of replenir "to fill up," from re-, here perhaps an intensive prefix based on the notion of "fill repeatedly," thus "fill completely" (see re-), + -plenir, from Latin plenus "full" (from PIE root *pele- (1) "to fill"). Specifically as "to fill up again, restore to a former amount or condition" by 1610s. Related: Replenished; replenishing; replenishment. And here's the link to the prefix "re" https://www.etymonline.com/word/re- I'm not convinced either way. Evil did exist before man sinned, otherwise God would not have "known good and evil" and the serpent would not have been an evil entity to have tempted Eve. And "death" was a known concept, otherwise the serpent and Eve would not have discussed it. The Bible says that death passed upon Adam and Eve.. I don't recall reading where it says that animals had not yet died. I'm just curious as to what happened to all them "dinosaurs". Except for crocodilians, they were completely annihilated long ago and I don't believe any of them were on the ark.
  17. Deuteronomy 30:19 says..... 19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: So, why did God(same God) give people the option to "choose" life if He already has made the choice for them?
  18. Belief was totally selfish, on my part. I don't see how Calvinists can say our belief is 'taking credit" for salvation; unless they have never really been saved themselves.
  19. Here's another example using the same word for "walking" used in Job 1:7 and 2:2. In the following passage of scripture, all three words; "walking", "standing" and "sitting" are clearly speaking of our "manner of life"; not physical actions. The same word is used in "Enoch walked with God" and "Noah walked with God". Both of these are also speaking of their manner of life; not physically "walking". Just to let you know I wasn't completely making something up. I believe the word "up" is sometimes used metaphorically as well with "up" having positive connotations and "down" being the negative. Perhaps when I get some more time I will study this further. Psalm 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; And in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
  20. Job 2: 2And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. First of all, would God need to ask Satan where he came from? No But would He ask since this needed to be written for us to read? Yes Second- Is Satan primarily concerned with "walking up and down" through the layers of dirt, rock and magma of a physical planet? No. I suspect that this passage, as in most of the Book of Job, is speaking in metaphors. So this is how I interpret it (at this time). The "earth" would be the heart or soul of mankind. "Walking" would be how Satan conducts himself "Up" would represent the appearance of good/morality "Down" would be the revelation of blatant evil "To" would mean Satan is entering someone and "Fro" would mean leaving. So, Satan sometimes influences people via subtle appearances wherein he makes things look right when they're not. Other times, the evil is blatant and obvious. So, I would say that "up" means ascending to a higher place, whether it be physically or morally/spiritually, and "down" would be the opposite. Hence, going "down" into Egypt is not a good thing.
  21. Nope ...everything still the same
