Maybe it's somewhat old news, but the beta release of Windows 7 is available to whoever wants to download and try it. I haven't tried it on a physical computer, but I tried it in a virtual machine. For a virtual environment it didn't run too horrible. It was a bit faster than Vista, though slower than XP.

For some reason, the first thing it wanted to do after a clean install was scan my computer for malware. Hello, it's a clean install. Oh well. Another thing is with the new taskbar, they totally copied the idea of the Mac OS X dock, but in a much, much less intuitive way.

So that's my take, I guess it's an improvement over Vista, but not the best thing I've ever seen. Then again, it's still a beta, so many things might change between now and final release.
