On this day, July 4, 1533, John Frith, the man of peace and purity was burned to death at the stake because of his religious views. John had quoted scriptures to argue that the bread and wine do not actually turn into Jesus' flesh and blood. He also denied that there is a purgatory after death. "A purgatory! there is not one only, there are two. The first is the Word of God, the second is the Cross of Christ: I do not mean the cross of wood, but the cross of tribulation."

John Frith was burnt with a young man, Andrew Hewet who came from my old home town of Faversham, then spelled Feversham.

We are taking some of our folks out to the local fireworks event here in Amarillo.  We will be passing out tracts to the crowd and maybe even a little street preaching.  It is a great opportunity to reach lost people with the gospel of Christ.  Last year we passed out 1000's of tracts.

And then, since we are there, we get to see the fireworks.  Yeah!
