"If congress and a majority of the state legilslators passed a constitutional amendment that said that you had no freedom of speech and the supreme court said it was okay would that be okay with you too?"

In other words tyrants are frr to nullify the constitution any time they can buy the votesof enough fools.  This is the kind of thinking tyrants is how tyrants continue to exist and thrive.  It is thinking such as this that enables them to put millions up against the wall down through history.

God bless,

Larry

If a majority of the people vote for a Constitutional Amendment, it changes the constitution and will be the law of the land.   There is no tyranny in the United States.

There was tyranny in NEw Testament times. Nero, who killed and persecuted Christians?  What did the early church do?  Pay their taxes, and worship.  They were law abiding citizens, except when it came to worshiping God.  We should follow their example.

Jesus did not come to establish an earthly kingdom.  We live in earthly kingdoms, and most of us have no influence over the law of the land.  Those in that position should work to make good laws.  But most of us ordinary citizens should obey the laws, even if we don't like them.  The laws are there for the collective good.  If everyone only obeyed the laws they like we would live in anarchy and chaos.

Sure we can run for office, work to change laws we don't like, etc.  But disregarding a law that the Supreme Court has declared constitutional is foolish and wrong.  If we think a law is unconstitutional, we should follow it and challenge it in court, and then respect and follow the court's decision.

We have no tyrants in the U.S.  Nero was a tyrant.  Hitler was a tyrant.  Tyrant rule by force and by fear.  Here, we have elections, peaceful changes of power and no coups or overthrows of government taking place.  It is peaceful.  It is orderly.  When Bush left office, Obama was elected.  The parties changed control peacefully.  No violence.  The same will happen in the next election.  In my state, the Republicans took control of the state house.  It was peaceful.  Lots of people didn't like it, but they can work to elect those they want to serve them.

Well that pretty much leaves me speechless, so I'll just go back to my study and be still.

God bless,
