My wife's always had the attitude that it doesn't matter what you give someone, as long as you meant well. Now she's quick to criticize any gift given her that she doesn't like, but she's never caught on that what you give someone else tell them how much you pay attention to them, which translates into how much you care about them. Christmas and birthdays were always a bit depressing because she would just grab something without thinking. Finally she stopped getting em stuff at all, as wel concentrated on the kids.

Finally, she got it. I don't know how. Maybe it was because it was Father's Day and she wasn't shopped out like on Christmas (my birthday is just a few days after Christmas) Anyway, that father's day she gave me the perfect gift. A humongous, uncooked steak. It was gigantic. We didn't have a grill then, but I sauteed it in a large pan for a long time with onions, and seasoning. I baked a potato to eat with it, and enjoyed every bite. Since then she's gotten me other gifts that shows she's paying attention. One Christmas she got me one of those big cast-iron griddles that covers two burners. Along with that was a loaf of texas toast, and a big bottle of syrup. We all enjoyed french toast that morning, using my own special recipe. We use the griddle all the time.

It's not hard to get gifts for men, you just have to pay attention to them enough to figure out what it is they'll like.

Most of my friends are like me. We would rather have a good discussion about politics, religion or video production than talk about cars or the latest tools. The best times I've had with my friends have been exploring a city together, making a video together, and long discussions.
