Go Ye

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" (Mt. 29: 19)

Without the first two words of our text verse, we have nothing; without "go ye" we have no great commission. "Go ye" then, is essential to every Christian; it is not a suggestion, but a command. Our part is to "go", and the Lord's part is to "do" the actual work. We enter into a holy alliance with the Father when we go.

A partnership: We meet God half-way you might say. What a privilege He has bestowed upon us; what trust He has put in us! We work together for the salvation of men, and the glory of God. We become useful to one another.

A fellowship: We also enter into a certain fellowship with the God of gods, the Almighty when we are OBedient to His command to go. We work together, and walk together; we talk to one another, and weep together over souls; we both have the same goal in mind.

A kinship: Then too, there is a certain kinship--a Father-son relationship that "bonds" us with our Lord. We enjoy a closer relationship when we go "together" to win the lost. "He that winneth souls is wise", and so it remains true.

The little word "ye" becomes important in Holy writ; it is more than "you" (which is "thee" or "thou" in a more personal sense); "ye" speaks of a crowd, or group collectively; it is not as personal as "you". "Ye" entails all Christians; it is "all of you" in one short word. "Go Ye" becomes a command to the multitudes, and not merely the individual; it is all inclusive, (not ignoring the individual duty).

All power is given unto Christ, (v. 18) "therefore"--
See what it is there for! Because He is given "all power in heaven and in earth"; because Christ is endued with power, therefore "Go Ye" and He will go with you. We do not go alone into the wilderness of this world.

We are armed with the arm of God; (as well as the armor of God, Eph 6: 13-18)
We are prepared for the work: ("thoroughly furnished" by the Word of God 2Ti 3:17)
We are commissioned by the Lord Himself;

Go and teach; We are to be teachers of Truth--absolute truth; we are bearers of "Good News", and are to teach others of that news. We can not all preach, but we all can teach! The command remains the same--it is for the multitudes.
The necessity of man:
God sent a man to the Ethiopian eunuch;
He sent a man to the Philippian jailer:
He commissioned Paul to "go" to many countries;
He commissioned us to "go" too!
Our Lord works through the instrumentality of men.

The duty of man:
OBedience to the Lord's command is our sole duty to Him. "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." (Eccl. 12:13)

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. (Dan. 12:3)
