"A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world." (Jn. 16: 21) "Happy New Year" seems to be a very optimistic outlook when we consider what we are facing next year. I never did understand why we bid one another "happy new year" right along with a "Merry Christmas"! The two are as far apart as east and west. The one, spiritual, the other secular and worldly. Perhaps we are happier that the old year is finally over, and is lost in history? That would be more like it! With each new year comes pain and misery, as a wom…

http://www.sermonaudio.com/new_details.asp?ID=30724 This guy called our church several months ago. Claiming he had been to our church. The article is right he was smooth I tried asking him several questions to trip him up. There was just one prOBlem He claimed he visited our church which unbeknown to him is very small. I knew right away he was lying. I contacted the police in the town from Florida he said he was from but of course they could do nothing. I contacted several news outlets in the area figuring they would warn others but they did nothing. Wanted to at least give everyone heads up. God bless.

I am new to this website. I am seeking out help with my personal walk with Christ. I was saved June 7th, 2009.. I remember that day very well! But, Satan is throwing his attacks at me and I am not getting victory over old sins.. I am trying, but I just cant do it.. I have prayed about it and I just keep falling. I belong to a good Church and I love it there, been there over 7 years. But, I just want to broaden my view of help. I really would like someone to make some suggestions as to what i may be able to do. I am sunk into sin, and I want desperately to get out! ---Shaun DeShazo

I have attached a few pics. Please continue to pray for him and the rest of my children that they will all be saved and be used of God greatly. God bless.

I have often wondered why so many preachers say we need to stay informed by reading the newspapers, and watching the news. I have never done so on a regular basis, and it has been to my advantage, I'm sure. I had a preacher friend who was struggling in the ministry, and he read three newspapers a day! When I asked "Why?" He said we must stay informed of world events. Again, I ask "Why?" We can pray for the evil in this world without filling our heads with it! the following is an excerpt from a Moody sermon, found on line, and in public domain: I have changed the title to suit the need. The Daily News (by D. L. Moody) Excerpt from “Temptations” Preached in …

EDITORIAL: Crucifying Christians on Christmas The faithful face persecution in many Muslim lands By THE WASHINGTON TIMES - The Washington Times 5:01 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2010 On Saturday, the world's Christians will join in prayer and celebration of the birth of Jesus. For too many of them, this worshipful act will take place under the threat of imprisonment, torture or execution. "Christians are the religious group which suffers most from persecution on account of its faith," Pope Benedict XVI wrote in the Vatican's annual Peace Day message. The pontiff chose not to single out the most notable perpetrators of this persecution, but previous Vatican state…

KUHNER: The coming Republican civil war OBama-GOP compromise splits establishment from Tea Party By Jeffrey T. Kuhner - The Washington Times 6:09 p.m., Thursday, December 16, 2010 The tax deal has exposed major divisions within the Republican Party. It has triggered deep fissures in GOP ranks - especially among many potential candidates for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. Establishment Republicans have embraced the deal. They argue that letting the George W. Bush-era tax cuts expire would threaten the nascent recovery and even could plunge the economy into a "double-dip" recession. It is bad policy and bad economics to impose massive tax increases dur…

I was given a copy of "Thew Treasure of God's Word, Celebrating 400 years of the King James Bible" Compiled by Jack Countryman, published by Thomas Nelson. Scripture is sure King James, and most of the history is good and then wham, say the Douay is one of the previous translation used for the KJB, and they tout the NKJV as being the right mix of the two schools. Beautiful book, it was given as gift with love, but the average reader needs to beware of its content and false teachings.

Today during prayer and devotions I read Psalms 133. Much of the beginning of my prayer dealt with thanks to God for His word and the knowledge He gave me. The reading was also an answer for grace to rightly divide His word. Psalms 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! We have a unity here at OB, we have a unity within our local church, and we have a unity within the churches of like faith. Psalms 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! Psalms 133:2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to t…

Do you believe infants, or young children, even if they are not capable of understand the Gospel, if they have not been born again, accepted Jesus as Savior, will they go to hell or heaven? There is a topic on this subject right here. It seems that many believe all infants, babies, young children that are not of an age that they can understand the Gospel, that they will be sent straight to hell. I've set this just for a poll only, disabling replying to this topic, if you want to discuss this topic click here on this.

Adult Consensual Incest is A'Comin' 12/16/2010 11:51:00 AM By Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI's DSA -Illinois Family Institute Perhaps we can be forgiven for remaining blithely ignorant of just how depraved societies that abandon true faith can become. Until today, I did not know that incest between consenting adults is legal in China, France, Israel, the Ivory Coast, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain and Turkey. In Spain the age of consent is 13. In Switzerland, where consensual incest between "second-degree" relatives like aunts and nephews or between cousins is already legal, the Upper House of Parliament recently proposed a law decriminalizing consensual sex b…

No Balm in Gilead? Is there no balm in Gilead? The Lord asks this question in Jeremiah 8:22: “Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?” The prOBlem was the indifference of God’s people to His will and to the law (His Word). Just two verses before this, God, speaking through Jeremiah, makes another OBservation: “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” We all have grown lax when it comes to serving our God. At times, we do well, but then we seem to “peter out” and slack off on the things of God. We are a busy people, it seems, but perhaps busy in the wron…

This is an e-mail I just received from a Hospital Chaplain. I have hesitated to write this email as I was hopeful that your materials were randomly left at our health care facilities. However, the tracts and DVDs have been more numerous as of the past couple of weeks. While I have no doubt of the sincerity of your outreach and theology, that still doesn't make it acceptable in our hospitals and clinics. Thus I ask that you inform your parishioners and/or missionaries to discontinue leaving your materials in our facilities. Yes, everyone dies. Your belief structure indicates that death is to be feared unless there is some type of conversion experience. Human beings wi…

Hey everyone, I think this is the best thing my wife had ever written. Every lady should read this, and it would do well for fathers to read it as well. Very powerful. ----- I have prayed about this topic for over a year and the burden in my heart is continually increased. Yet, I feel that it is an idea that can be misconstrued if not read in the proper context. I want to say what this article is not. It is not meant to degrade any ladies in any way. It is not meant to intrude into the liberty of a husband and wife to determine how many children that they can properly raise for the Lord. It is not meant to burden women with guilt for past sins that are und…

On April 28, 1952, in the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States in Zorach v. Clauson, 343 U.S. 306 (1952), in which school children were allowed to be excused from public schools for religious OBservances and education, Justice William O. Douglas, in writing for the Court stated: "The First Amendment, however, does not say that in every and all respects there shall be a separation of Church and State. Rather, it studiously defines the manner, the specific ways, in which there shall be no concern or union or dependency one on the other. That is the common sense of the matter. Otherwise the State and religion would be aliens to each other-- hosti…

No doubt someone will disagree with most of this, and it is not intended for the offense f anyone, but may be necessary to keep a good testimony, and wake some people up. At the local Tyson's Feed Mills early yesterday morning a 120 foot cement silo collapse, at this time one man is still missing. Can't imagine what his family and friends are going through. Several years back the local Pilgrim Pride had a silo to collapse spilling thousands of pounds of corn, thankfully in that indecent no one was injured.
