Public Employee Benefits 1 2

States legislators say their states are in trouble. Deficits and budget shortfalls are requiring desperate measures. How do you feel about funding of public employee pay/salary, retirement, and medical? Question 3 "Do you believe the same should apply for federal employees?" is a little (maybe a lot ambiguious) to clarify... Would you require federal employees fund their own medical and retirement from their pay and salary? Sorry I noticed this so late.

Homosexuals Sue Christian Bed & Breakfast Owner for Refusing 'Civil Union' Ceremony by Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI's DSA -Illinois Family Institute The Walder family A Christian family being attacked by radical homosexual activists demanding they violate their faith. Attacks on religious liberty and freedom of conscience have started -- mere weeks after Governor Pat Quinn (D) signed the 'civil unions' bill into law -- just as we warned. While many conservatives think wisdom and political pragmatism dictate a "truce" on the social issues, liberals, including homosexuals, see this time as ripe for an all-out frontal assault on virtually every issue pertain…

I'm 63 years of age, and I'm appalled at the number of people that have lost at least part of a leg to this dreaded disease. Plus I know that there is a great number who have lost part of their toes that I know nothing about. In the 1st 35 years of my life it was uncommon to see someone who had lost a leg due to diabetes, yet now its uncommon if you don't see someone each day that has been adversely affected by diabetes. It truly seems to be in epidemic proportions nowadays. have any of you took notice of this. I'm sure thankful to my God that I have not been affected by this dreaded disease.

The end of the American age Death of last WWI veteran warns of national decline By THE WASHINGTON TIMES - The Washington Times 7:09 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2011 Frank Buckles, the last surviving American veteran of World War I, lived through the rise of the United States as a major world power and survived long enough to see the beginning of its decline. He died Sunday, aged 110, and much of America’s greatness passed along with him. Mr. Buckles was witness to profound changes in U.S. history. He was born in the waning days of William McKinley’s first term. Then the country was in the middle of an industrial expansion that made the United States one of the wor…

(Perhaps we could discuss the pros and cons of this article and learn something) Finding Your Prayer Personality Ever felt restless during a prayer meeting? Here's help! My mind kept wandering. I wasn't going to make it through this prayer meeting. Prayer after lengthy prayer covered everything mentioned during request time. I only had passionate interest in two or three of the issues being prayed about. On my knees, with my head in my arms, I was fighting sleep. Was I a sluggard? A weak Christian, bored with the goings-on? No. I had run smack dab into the middle of a prayer meeting filled with "list pray-ers" and people with the gift of mercy. For many of u…

I've heard it said that if you want to boost the economy, start a war. I don't understand this at all. Can someone explain? Does war do any good for a nation from the financial end? I suppose if you're selling weapons and supplies to another nation you might make money, but if you're spending the money for your own war I don't see how it can be profitable from a financial standpoint.

What is the state, or condition, of male/female roles in your church? Your family...immediate and extended? In your locale? The radio station I normally listen to was having problems this morning so I tuned into a little local station and heard some great discussions regarding families and the church. This led into some deep discussions regarding the role of Christian men and women, more specifically within the family and the church. I've noticed of late a few fundamentalist churches attempting to biblically address this, as well as several Covenant churches and organizations which have been promoting the restoration of biblical marriages, families and through this t…

If, that is if Mr. Trump got the republican nomination for president do you think he can win. I'm not asking if you will endorse him, vote for him, or support him, only if you think he can win if nominated.

[Documentary Series] Victory At Sea
by Guest- 3 replies

The "Victory at Sea" series was produced by NBC for television in 1952-53. It details the classic sea battles of WWII and provides insight into the land struggles of both Europe and the Pacific. Did you know there was a huge struggle for the island of Malta in the Mediterranean after the fall of France? The events surrounding this conflict titled "Mediterranean Mosaic" and many others are detailed in this series. I used to watch these on 16MM reels while working in a film library in my early Navy days (1971-1972). They are in black and white, however the filming and narration are very good. No profanity is a huge plus. I picked up a double disk set at Wallmart for $5 …

Ephesians 6:10-18 (King James Version) 10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod…

This phrase, "universal rights of the people", and other similar phrases seems to be a common theme when America is trying to tell other nations how they must conduct themselves. Just what does this mean? Who determines what is or isn't the "universal rights of the people"? Is it only those America dislikes that must abide by the "universal rights of the people"? Along these lines, what has America's response been when other nations have tried to tell America something similar whether in regards to the American "civil war", the time of the "civil rights" movement, or others? Why does America demand that Egypt or Libya must respect the "universal rights of the people"…

Years back, the young girl in this picture, grandfather, grandmother, and future father attended church with us. There were at church every time the door was open, attempting to bring their son, Michael up properly. Michael was a very kind and polite young man in those days. But he had things working against him, his father was a liar, and lied about anything and everything. His mother was an alcoholic. At that time I knew about the father, but not about the mother. Michael is still a kind and polite person when you see him. But he has been in and out of jail, prison, mostly because of dope. Not long after graduating high school his father and mother divorced. He got m…

"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:" Ephesians 4:26 On the face of it, this is a very clear verse. That said, I've heard many proclaim it doesn't mean what it says, has several meanings, isn't meant to be taken literally, some people are different and just can't do this so it's okay for them to do something different, etc. A week or so ago I heard this verse being discussed on the radio. One of the men began by saying the verse is clear. The other guy said him and his wife were just not capable of doing this, they weren't made that way. He went on to tell about how it sometimes takes them several days to get to this point and claimed th…

Was the United States a democracy or republic established by a significantly Christian populace. Would those framing the constitution write it from the majority's perspective? If so, how could a none Christian interpret the laws?

12 Steps to Raise A Juvenile Delinquent 1 Begin with infancy to give the child everything he wants. In this way he will grow up to believe the world owes him a living. 2 When he picks up bad words, laugh at him. This will make him think he’s cute. 3 Never give him any spiritual training. Wait until he is twenty-one and then let "him decide for himself". 4 Avoid the use of "wrong". He may develop a guilt complex. This will condition him to believe later, when he is arrested, that society is against him and he is being persecuted. 5 Pick up everything he leaves lying around. Do everything for him so that he will be experienced in throwing all responsibility on oth…

Has anyone read this relatively new book entitled "The Faith of Ronald Reagan" by Mary Beth Brown? Reading reviews online I've come across conflicting views. If anyone here has read the book, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this book. Thank you!

If the streets of America were filled with protesters asking for Mr. Obama to step down as president, would he heed the advise he seems to have passed on the Egypt's leader? Would he advise the military & or any other law enforcing officials to do no harm to any of those that are protesting against him being president?

Fraudulent charge on my Discover Card

I received a monthly statement from Discover...a rare event. This made me look for charges listed against the acct. The charge was for a stay at a hotel this January. I was never there and when I looked for the hotel on line via a Google Map search I read..."This place is permanently closed." I called Discover and they are closing my account and issuing me a new card/acct. number. The lady at the fraudulent activity dept. was very courteous and understanding. This is the first time in my life (57 yrs.) I've ever had something like this happen. I thought it might be a good idea to let folks know these things do happen to just plain folks.

Here's a question for any legal experts out there. My mother-in-law is selling her house and my wife is trying to get rid (sell off) as much stuff as possible before settlement. My wife's friend's son wanted to buy a paddle boat for $100.00. My wife agreed to it. At the last second, my wife decided not to sell it but keep it for herself and our kids. The friend's son was understandably upset about it and has threatened to take her to small claims court because she had said he could have the boat. No money was exchanged. Would this stand up in a court of law or would he need some kind of signed contract?

So, does anyone have any plans for today? I got up this morning to a hand-made card by my hubby. There was a heart drawn of X's and O's, with 3 heart stickers. Instructions were to put the stickers on any of the X's and O's and await further instruction. I'm to keep my card with me at all times, and, apparently, throughout the day will have stickers to place on the remaining X's and O's. Once they are all covered, I will get my surprise. My hubby is so imaginative! And to think, all he got from me was 3 candy kisses at his place this morning. He didn't complain - he ate 'em after getting some real ones. :clapping:

KNIGHT: Freedom to be Christian but banned from acting Christian Secularists and the ACLU strip First Amendment of meaning By Robert Knight - The Washington Times 6:17 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 Christians, Orthodox Jews or anyone with traditional views of sex and marriage should be barred from state university counseling programs unless they agree to violate their beliefs. That’s the gist of theamicus brief the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed Feb. 11 in a case in which a Christian student is challenging her dismissal from a graduate counseling program at Eastern Michigan University in 2009. Julea Ward had asked that another student take the ca…
