A perfect example to my earlier point. No way you can slouch while dressed like that. Earl Grey English breakfast tea anyone?

KJV and God preserving His Word

It sounds like Ian Paisley in his book, My Plea for the Old Sword. Maybe not, I read it years ago. -
I was in a few countries while in the Marines. My favorite? Norway. I lived there for over a month in the winter and a few weeks in the summer. The cold was so refreshing. The people were very nice in Overbygd where we stayed. Way up north. I am a certified Bluenose.

KJV and God preserving His Word
Joe Chandler replied to MikeWatson1's topic in Bible - KJV or Modern Version Discussion
This is the easy part. Here is just one passage of many pertaining to the inspiration of scripture. 2 Peter 1:19-21 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. It gets more complicated here. There are a few manuscript families. The manuscript you choose is crucial to the translations stemming therefrom. No translation from a corrupt manuscript is accurate. The KJV and earlier translations were taken from the same manuscript family. Now the accuracy of the translation is the key. The KJV scholars are unsurpassed in their methods and scholarship. Compare the KJV and the Great Bible, the Bishop's Bible, or Tyndale's translation. All from the same manuscript family. There is no flaw nor contradiction. An accurate translation of the correct manuscripts is a preservation of God's word, regardless of if that translation is English, French, German, or any other language. The flaw is the battle over which manuscript (originals) is used and the quality of the translation. There is a push to use the newer translations. Why? Sounds like you have bent your ear to the NIV, ESV, NKJV, ASV, NASV, crowd. -

That is the best post I have seen from you yet! Well said. -
Have you been to Walmart lately? Our society is slovenly. My dad was a teacher. He always dressed well for school. I asked him why he did that. He said, "It isn't for me, it is for the kids. It shows them that I am different from them and that I care enough for them to dress well." Your attire affects your behavior. Don't believe me? Wear a uniform and walk around town. Now wear a t-shirt and shorts and do the same. I lose respect for church leaders who care more about being cool, than respecting their office and the holiness of God. I do not lose respect for poor people nor do I look down on visitors who don't dress well. Do your best for God. That is my 2 cents.

I had to abstain from attending my youngest daughter's wedding, because she was going to marry an unsaved man. I took my stand without malice while I thought I could stop the wedding. It didn't work. Once she married, our whole family has shown her love and acceptance. It was very difficult. My advice is to stand while there is still a chance it might stop her. If she goes through with it, then what? I don't know. Something turned her against God. I'll bet she has a wicked friend or two in her life. 1 Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; The change will not make her happy. I hate to know that you have to deal with something this horrible. I will pray for you and her today.

The Westernization of Modern American Christianity

Mark 5:15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. Even this guy put his clothes on. He was a nude dude in a rude mood until Jesus came. ? -

No, the title did not change. I react with humor sometimes when I cannot think of how to answer certain posts. In Scotland, men wear kilts. I have some Scottish ancestors and have threatened to wear a kilt to church. (I won't, but I love the reaction I get from folks.) I think that the passage in Deuteronomy 22:5 is specifically addressing cross dressing. Unheard of in America until recently. Now we have TV shows about it. -

Yes, you are right. I forgot about Sunday School being unique. Yes, I coerced her somehow. I have great power over others! Jealous? -
UFO sightings, preparing for the second coming.
Joe Chandler replied to TheGloryLand's topic in General Chats
Actually, I have. Many crash sites are found, but are free of debris. This guy from Canada believes that the people who witness these things are sincere, but do no know what they are actually witnessing. This guy says that what they are seeing are spiritual beings not physical. I can't remember his name, but the Babylon Bee interviewed him. It wasn't satire. I find it worth noting that these aliens can travel millions of light years, cross many galaxies, but haven't figured out how to land safely. ? Hey! I was the other guy. I kept dreaming until I saved the planet. I wanted to tell you about it, but you were gone! -
The Westernization of Modern American Christianity

I have noticed that we use Anglo American traditions with almost the same emphasis as Bible principles. For instance we expect everybody to use our dress codes or adhere to punctuality standards that do not work in some parts of the world. In remote or third world countries, people travel miles and miles on foot to get to church. Those people expect a much longer service than Americans that want to be out by noon so they can go eat. As one man put it, "We start at 11:00 AM sharp and end at 12:00 dull." ? You have me at a disadvantage as I have not been to a church service anywhere but America. My information has been gleaned from missionaries describing their experiences. What kinds of things have you noticed? -

The American church is a very broad term. I have read several good books on Baptist history in America and England. Our experience is very different from American Catholics or Anglicans. The Mormons began in America as well as the Church of Christ. I suspect that you are only interested in Bible believing churches and how we are different from Bible believers in other countries. Is that right? -
You have to wonder why the extreme reaction. I have experienced the same reaction, especially online.

FYI John MacArthur is an unapologetic Calvinist, but he is also staunchly pre-mil and pre-trib. He is so pre that he won't east Post Toasties. Covenant theology is pretty flexible and diverse in its eschatology.

I say the United States Marine Corps should decide. Oorah! Lev 13 is how the priests tested for leprosy. I hope my pastor doesn't have leprosy. ?

Thank you for your input. God is a constant and His word is a constant. Man is the variable. God lives outside of time, but we live inside time. I think the times that God "repents" is the only way we can understand it. I assume you read the whole thread. God repents because of intercessory prayer, and because men change their behavior, for mercy sake, and for the sake of other men that God made a covenant with. All in all, it is good news for us that He accepts us when we repent.

OK. I think I am starting see the reason for the clown noses on your avatar. ?

Yes I did, but I couldn.t find Tylenol in the thread. ?

Genesis 6:6 ¶ And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. When God does not repent. Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? 1 Samuel 15:29 And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent. Psalm 110:4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 7:21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) Intercession caused God to repent. Exodus 32:12-14 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people. 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever. 14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. Mercy and pity. Deuteronomy 32:36 For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left. Judges 2:18 And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them. 2 Samuel 24:16 And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite. Psalm 106:45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. When man repents of their evil. Jeremiah 18:8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. Jeremiah 18:10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them. Jeremiah 26:3 If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings. Jeremiah 26:13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you. Jonah 3:9 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. Jonah 4:2 And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil. Joel 2:13-14 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. 14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God? God became weary of repenting. Jeremiah 15:6 Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting. Ezekiel 24:14 I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD. Perhaps the key. Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. 2 Peter 3:9 ¶ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Advil: Is door to door soul winning still working today? Metformin: It boils down to obedience more than results. Rinvoq: Jesus said He is the door. Paxlovid: I listened to the Doors before I was saved. Advil: Confused emoji Nyquil: You are confused because you are stupid. Advil: Is the bible stupid too? Paxlovid: You guys be trippin’. Moderator: Go read the rules again. Rinvoq: He who opens the door… Need I say more? Generic: He who closes the door… Yes, say more. Rinvoq: Hey newbie, get off the thread. Generic: No! You get off the thread. Rinvoq: Anybody who believes the bible wants you off the thread. Advil: What about door to door soul winning? Jardiance: It works for the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Nyquil: And the Mormons. Generic: They are both cults and use hypnosis at the door. Metformin: You have no proof of that, Generic. Mucinex: I was hypnotized by a witch once. Rinvoq: He who opens the door… Need I say more? Nyquil: Asked and answered, Rinvoq!!!!!!! Vicks: We still go door to door at my church. Paxlovid: Are you in a cult? Vicks: No. I am a Vatican certified Messianic Jew. Rinvoq: Definitely a cult. Go post your garbage on Facebook. Vicks: Your mom posts garbage on Facebook! Moderator: Go read the rules!! Admin: Vicks-banned. Rinvoq-banned. Nyquil-banned. Moderator: Too much, admin. Admin: You are not a real moderator. Moderator is just your own User ID. Ocrevus: As a Doctor of Theology, I think we need to look carefully at the word door as used in the KJV bible. The door has been a metaphor for an entrance to a room, house, or possibly any building. Doors can be used for ingress or egress. So is it really an actual door? The word door also rhymes with poor and spore. Therefore it is safe to say that door to door is equal to poor to poor or spore to spore. Until we get more clarification from me, do nothing. I am the ultimate authority. You are welcome, people. Caplyta: I agree with Ocrevus. He is friendly and subtle. Paxlovid: What part of that nonsense do you agree with? Moderator: Go read the rules!! Admin: That’s it fake moderator, you are banned. Moderator: Nooooooooooooooooooooo PeptoKids: Where did Cain get his wife? Is a whale a fish? How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? Did the flood really happen? Why are you KJV only? I visit every church because they worship. Do you? Advil: Can we get back to door to door soul winning, please. Moderator#2: You already asked that. Admin: Hey! You are banned. Moderator#2: I changed my user name and used a VPN to circumvent IP banning. Boom! Metformin: Go door to door. PeptoKids: Use Facebook instead like the bible says. Metformin: Chapter and verse. PeptoKids: My opinion is enough. Ocrevus: No. My opinion is enough. I am a Doctor of Theology. Caplyta: I agree with Ocrevus. He is friendly and subtle. Rybelsus: Eat that fruit, Eve. Haha Zicam: What was the fruit? Nutrifol: I read somewhere that it was not an apple. Lavoris: Yes, it was. I’ve seen pictures? Listerine: And I suppose you think Jesus looked like His picture. Advil: Can we get back to door to door soul winning, please. Admin: This thread is locked.
