Change your password. Once your logged in, go to Start to Control Panel to User Accounts. Once you have User Accounts open you should see a list of users with your account being there. Click your account and you should have an option to change your password. The longer the better, plus having numbers and letters is also better. Even better is putting something like a ! or # into the password depending on what is allowed. Example say our password is usually john316 try changing it too !john316!. Also, admins shouldnt know your or be able to look it up. They should be able to change it, but doing so they shouldnt be able to put your password back as the password. I would really suspect that you either forgot to lock it or a co worker knows your password. So I would recommend changing it. Seeing as they could get on your account do some activities on your computer that could get you in trouble.

There is no "user accounts" in the CP. My password can be changed just by hitting (ctrl+alt+delete) which btw I did. I use several softwares do perform my work related duties, do you think it's possible that they can retrieve my password from the software used at work. E.g., we use passwords to access the software used here, is it possible that they can retrieve my password from this program? And I making sense? Take a look at the software used.

Yikes, you're working on Windows 2000. :fear:

They can't retrieve your password through that software. But you do have a network password. Did you change the network password or just for the local admin account? The network passwords are assigned on the server.

Yeah, they're going to update our computers soon hopefully. Huh? local admin account? you lost me there. The network admins are the admins of all computers here at the office, so how can I change the local admin account? I changed the network password though. But that's ok, I'm not that worried about password issues any longer.

That's okay, when I worked at the computer company in Balto, I worked on Windows 2000. But then I switched it to Linux, and then I got my Mac so I kind of did my own upgrading. lol

You can log on to your computer locally. You have a local user and password and a network user and password. Judging by the software you use, I would say that the software is probably located on the server and you are running it from there. When the computer boots up, you come to the login screen. It gives you the place to put your username and password in. Below that, there should be a dropdown menu where you can choose to logon to "Madeline(or local computer)" or "Server(whatever the name of it is)."

You are probably changing the password to your local machine but not changing it for the network. That would have been assigned on the server. Perhaps you can get a screenshot of the login screen so we can see how you are logging on?

That's what I tried to do, get a screenshot of the login screen. You can't! I hit (Print screen), but when you hit (ctrl+alt+delete) and hit print screen, it won't print that screen for some reason. It has the options to lock workstation, log-off, shut-down, change password, task manager, and cancel.

So you changed the password for locking your computer?

So can you tell me what you are logging in as? What does it show in the dropdown menu that you are logging in on?

It prompts me to enter my user ID. I login using my user ID, e.g., (HPCGMF). Below it is where I would enter my password. And there is another box below that but I can't remember what it says. I have to restart it to see what it actually says. That's ok kevin, no big deal.

Kevin, I have to get back to work. I logged out as you said and it wasted my time because all of the programs needed to perform my job took almost 10 minutes to start back up after logging back in. It's an annoying process.

There are 3 entry boxes.

1. Username
2. Password
3. Domain

There are 2 domains, I select the first which is mine. It's ok, I'm not worried about it anymore.
