Hi Everybody, :lol

It's the spring of the year and time to think of the gardening plans and all that goes with it. One of those aspects is to preserve the fruits of our labors and store them away for the winter time. Few things can compare to the satisfaction of having an edge up on rising food prices. We do that by growing and preserving our own.

Mine go like this::::

1. Jams (made from the whole fruit) and butters (made from the puree of the fruit)

a. Strawberry

b. Black Raspberry (the way my wife makes this it will make your eyes spin in spirals. :hungry: :drool :drool :drool :drool :hungry: )

c. Nectarine

d. Blueberry ( I want to do this one this year)

e. Grape (If I can find some blue fox grapes until mine begin to bear)

f. Apricot (this one is an absolute must. :thumb )

2. Freezing (We always do a lot of this)

a. Corn

b. Green snap beans.

c. Blueberries

d. Raspberries

e. applesauce

f. Strawberries

g. Green and red bell peppers

3. Drying. I haven't ever done this, but since I have a dryer, I thought I would try it out and see how it works. Many fruits takeon a whole new character when they are dried. E.G. Raisins don't taste anything at all like fresh grapes.

4. Canning

a. Sweet Pepper Relish

b. Tomato juice

c. Applesauce

Now it's your turn. :java: :peek: :cool
