Bear in mind that a child is usually eager to please and they will tell you what you want to hear because of this. It is not deceitful, just that they may not properly understand and their motivation may be more in their desire to please their parents, pastor, or Sunday school teacher than from the Holy Ghost dealing with them regarding their sin and their need for salvation.

I have served as a Bus Captain and preached regularly in Children's Church as an IFB Baptist. I knew how to get kids to respond and make a "decision" for Jesus and I literally had thousands of "Decisions" from hundreds of kids! Let that sink in for a moment.

Ray Comfort absolutely nailed it with his "Hell's Best Kept Secret" message. The #1 thing you need to realize when dealing with anyone is that "by the law is the knowledge of sin" (Rom 3:20). Therefore, the primary objective we have in personal evangelism is to show someone that they are a sinner. Most will be offended but those God gets a hold of will not be able to shake off or dismiss such truth. From there it is quite easy - "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved" (Acts 16:31).

Repentance should be emphasized but one must also remember that repentance is the work of God and is evidence of salvation, not a prerequisite for salvation.
